Cape Coral (Fla.) wideout
Kalonji Hamilton has picked up steam on the recruiting trail over the last couple of weeks. On July 7, he did not have any offers. As of July 22, he holds offers from
Louisville,
Indiana,
Georgia Tech,
Ole Miss,
Mississippi State,
Auburn, Texas A&M,
Oregon and
Tennessee, as well as Miami, which offered the 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver on July 18.
Hamiltion has spoken to both head coach
Mario Cristobal and wide receivers coach
Kevin Beard since his communication with the Hurricanes began. "He actually called me first because him and Coach Beard were together. He was just telling me how he loves I play," Hamilton said about Cristobal. "He was just really showing me love, and I really appreciated it because it feels really good knowing that a top school feels that type of way about me."
"The way we connected, it was really good," Hamilton said about Beard. "He's a cool guy, and he's easy to get along with."
Hamilton is very familiar with UM football, as most of his family are "really big Hurricanes fans," he noted.
Hamilton announced on X that he plans on committing to a school on October 21. When making this decision, there are two primary factors that he will be considering.
"Wherever feels like home to me because I really want to play early," Hamilton said. "Both of those things are big factors to me."
Of the coaches from the programs he's spoken to, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech have told Hamilton that he'll play early if he were to attend those schools. Hamilton doesn't have any visits lined up just yet, but he does plan on taking gameday visits to schools during the season.
In his junior year at Cape Coral, Hamilton caught 30 passes for 412 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded 21 carries for 231 rushing yards and an additional score.
