Just thinking about this, but what a difference a year makes

It was almost a year to the day last year that Miami was Tex Cobb to K-State's Larry Holmes. Almost 365 days later, they went toe-to-toe with Florida on national TV and came up with what could be a defining victory for this program.

It's amazing how far this program has come in that time, isnt?

And the great thing is I really think this team can better in all aspects(especially offensively) and there is palpable momentum from the Gator conquest.

One note I forgot to mention about the game - and perhaps my only critique of Golden: why did we squib the kick-off up 21-6? I thought that was a bit of a buzzkill. Personally, I think the squib should only be used in situations where the Stanford band needs to come out and help help the other team. Not when there is still a lot of ball to be played and time and field position are at an absolute premium. I thought UM gave Florida about 25 years of free yardage in that situation.

With our new kicker being able to kick the way he does( and they hadn't broken any long KO's that day), why not just play it straight up the way they had all day.

Just a thought....

Cancels the ability of them being able to score on the kick, which would have given them time to get a three and out, with more than enough on the clock to move the ball.

We ran the clock out basically.

Might as well kick it out of bounds if we are giving them the ball on the 40. Our coverage unit was doing very well and they dont have a dangerous returner back there honestly. Heck UF kicked it straight to duke and said bring it

This. And Coley's play not to lose play calling were the minute gripes I could come up with on an otherwise glorious Saturday afternoon.

The defense has made huge strides from the last we seen them last year. A healthy, year older group does a world of wonders for any DC.

They gave up plenty of yards vs UF, but had our offense not had so many 3 and outs. I would say that they would have held UF to 150 fewer yards at least.

It is still a process, like Golden would say, but if we can get 50% better QB play, this team could surprise the world.

Just let O'Donnell launch it out of the endzone. You can see when he wants to he can get it there without a doubt. 'Hey kid, launch this thing through the uprights!'

he hasnt been able to do this so that was not an option. plus the plan was to squib kick it and hopefully the ball is picked up at around the 20 with defenders in the returner's face

famu game he busted it all night as deep as he wanted...it was just not executed very well

our coverage unit was fantastic. I'd only squib if UF threatened to have a long KO return at some point in the game, which they didn't

that's my point. And O'Donnell, in the FAMU game was banging it real deep, but I think vs UF, he was under instructions not to. IMO, the new touchback rule( where the ball is now placed at the 25) has made this a strategic call for coaches to make

A better option than squib kicking to me is just booting it high up in the air and making them fair catch at the twenty. But oh well.

Against FAU it was when he had wind at back, when they changed sides he got it to 1-2 yard line. As far as a boxing analogy we were kind of like Ali vs Foreman, we took every blow their offense threw against us and then when Tyriq sacked Driskell and forced the fumble it was like Ali suddenly snapping out with the knockout.

The actual squib kick itself sucked, not the idea imo.

bingo. It was the execution or the luck of the draw not the call.

It would've been funny to win this game 21-3 and still hear Gator's try to say they "beat themselves"
Blocked punt = TD
Squib Kick = TD

They would've lost 21-3 to us you guys. A win is a win but that would've been great for me to talk even more **** to people I know and work around.
