I talked with a 2013 LB from OH (6'0) that just spoke with Art Kehoe on the phone, said Kehoe's turning him down because UM wants taller linebackers. He said Kehoe told him that it's been their downfall; they want taller defenders. This is a First-Team All State LB.

Kehoe gave this kid a referral to UC to Tubbs...

Although it's obvious the staff wants taller/bigger LBs S Fla will always have one of them 6'0/1 kids who will end up at Miami. Just the way it is down here.

I'm thinking Kehoe just gave the kid a nice reason as to why they're not offering him.

Nonsense - this is what got us into jams in the first place.

Nope. What got us in this mess is taking reaches no one knows and taking a 4 star from Maryland instead of a 2/3 star from the Miami area.

I am guessing AU is alluding to the height requirements that Randy had for CBs with very few exceptions (Brandon Harris being one). I think as long as the coaches dont have a hard and fast rule, it is good to mix it up and if we have a shortage of taller LBs at the moment, unless the kid is out of this world, it probably makes sense to go after taller kids.

Also, as someone else pointed out, this could be Kehoe just being nice. I don't know this kid's other offers, but if Kehoe is referring him to UC and OSU, Michigan, etc are not recruiting him, then we can hopefully do better.

I agree, Shogungts.

The point of this thread is, UM is targeting longer and bigger LBs. No matter where they're from.

I think most of us have been screaming about getting bigger on D.

The irony is that Kehoe lied about his height when he first came to UM. Now he is turning down kids because of their height.

Agree with you to an extent, but also agree with the other posters, why go out of state for an undersized LB when S. Moore is a legit option close to home.
