Forget about offering late. Based on the young man's prior academic prowess, you wonder what issues he may have with admissions and the eligibility center. Definitely worth pursuing, but may be issues along the way.

Doing quick math it sounds like he has 3 years of eligibility even though he appears to be 29 years old.

seems unheard of that we would be recruiting the #1 Juco DT late when thats an obvious need position and freshman DT rarely make an early impact. seems we would be offering all the top Juco DT and seeing who has the most interest

Did u see how many times he failed to maintain the grades to get into school? He failed to qualify for WVU. I'm sure that had something to do with offering him late.

recruiting and offering are two very different things. u can recruit and keep in contact without offering a scholarship right away. look at the quote, he says if miami had been on him sooner, not if they offered sooner

I understand that too but what's the point of recruiting a kid (mind you this was during Al's rushed 1st class and when we thought we had other local DTs sewed up last year, plus he was supposed to be admitted into two previous schools) when he is set to sign with two other schools and continuously fails to get in.That's like someone flip floppin on whether or not they want the last piece of food before u walk away with it yourself.

Either way, just know its not too late for him to still end up a Cane and then this will be a moot point.

u miss understand me, i was talkin about recruiting him this year, not while he was in high school

ESPN had a little on him today, looks like Auburn and Arkansas currently lead
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/college-football/rumors/

Abu Lamin (Fort Scott, Kan./Fort Scott Community College) is considered an Arkansas lean. His preference may have changed after a recent visit to the Plains. Auburn may not have overtaken the Razorbacks, but the Tigers are certainly in the discussion.

"I love it here (in Auburn)," Lamin told Austin W. Penny of AuburnUndercover.com. "This is an amazing area. I'm not going to lie, this tops Arkansas' visit. I got to be with the players. I hung out with Nosa Eguae during the visit. He made me feel like I was on the team."

Lamin also quickly built a strong relationship with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner.

"That my dog," Lamin said. "I know if I come in here that he will take care of me. He cares not just about the football aspect but graduating. He wants me to graduate and get my degree."

If Auburn isn't Lamin's top choice at this juncture, Arkansas certainly has some work to do to get him excited about the Razorbacks
