JUCO DL Dorian Gerald - former Tenn commit

Everything Ive read on him says he's a future dt. Pretty sure ivins even said that. But he'd be immediate help on the dl regardless of where

I posted his film. Ask yourself what he looks like.

I watched , he's a Sde but has a big lower half. He looks bigger than 260 to me, I could see him sliding inside on pass downs but definitely a sde when he arrives.

Looks like a little bit more athletic Bethel...I think he stays outside and slides inside only like Thomas did on obv passing downs. JMO.

Yep.

He's more twitchy and faster. His frame is also looks bigger. I was never big on Bethel.

I don't mind Bethel at all, and love his motor...But ya there seems to be a ceiling with him. This kid is more twitchy and explosive. Similar players, but he can be better and perhaps stay outside.

I do too...But I mean...Why so **** late.

OVERSTOCK the DL, in case some **** like the last couple days happens. Not only after it happens.

All the major national defensive powers are using this formula...No need for Kool to go all Kehoe-like with his recruiting, and there is definitely NO NEED at all even pre Mcintosh/Norton/Johnson. To have somewhere around 4-5 defensive tackle official visits all season. ANY YEAR...Let alone a year it's a top 3 need not he team (along with tight end and corner)

Like Cribby said, I don't care if he plays SDE or DT. He'll likely play inside on passing downs. We need an infusion of bodies on the d-line and playing time is definitely available.

Don't think they accounted for losing 7 DL this season plus another with ACL

If you overstock you will account for the injuries and transfers which are part of today's game more than ever.

They should have at least been accounting for 5-6.

Why not?

3 were seniors...have to assume 1 injury...and 1 transfer (it's cfb today, everyone is transferring). And this doesn't include early draft defections, which they had to at least acknowledge were a possibility if not a given.

So ya assume 5-6 like i said would have been safe.

The difference between Miami and the big dogs currently and has been for awhile. BAMA literally offers **** near EVERY Living breathing DT early on in recruiting ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Think im joking..start to look at next years class and then find the already ranked dt's and guarantee they have a bama offer. They have essentially been doing this since saban has been there. They cast a wide *** net. For example..new transfer DJ JOHNSON reached out to us...he was oneof the highest ranked dl in the country and Kul literally had to look him up and didnt even believe it was the kid. Doesnt really happen at Bama. I always find it perplexing considering the state of fla doesnt produce a great deal of elite dt's yearly...we should be in nationally at that position YEARLY.

Pruitt just hired two DL coaches in Tracey Rocker and Chris Rumph.

Theres no secret sauce. Recruit DT aggresively and with high numbers and you will win.

I agree with this method. I know Richt is trying to make a UM offer mean something again. But when it comes to defensive lineman (as well as o-lineman), one should be a little more lenient.

Yup.

Miami overthinks South Florida players and then ignore national players. Even Richt is doing it. Its a weird phenomenon.

Maybe we do need to invest more in a recruiting infrastructure to help organize efforts. Pretty crazy idea, I guess.
