Harvey-Clemons has been dismissed from the team, according to announcement Tuesday from UGA that now confirms rumors that had been swirling of late about the former five-star prospect's status on the Bulldogs' team.

UGA coach Mark Richt's listed reason was "violation of team rules." In Harvey-Clemons' case, that likely included two previous suspensions in the past year, both reportedly for running afoul of a UGA athletics' policy regarding substance abuse. Therefore, Harvey-Clemons was suspended during the 2013 season for the season-opening loss at Clemson and season-ending loss to Nebraska in the Gator Bowl.

As a continuation of his second suspension, Harvey-Clemons was expected to miss the first three games of the 2014 season as well, according to news first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Amid growing speculation recently about Harvey-Clemons' status on the team and possible desire to transfer, several sources recently mentioned to his attendance at recent workouts and noted he was believed to be on thin ice.

Nonetheless, Harvey-Clemons grandfather Woodrow Clemons told Dawgs247 only 11 days ago that his grandson wanted to remain a part of UGA's program.

"He's happy," Mr. Clemons said. "He likes Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt. He's looking forward to the season."

Harvey-Clemons finished third on Georgia's team in tackles last season, tallying 66 despite missing games while on suspension. He was the starting strong safety in the Bulldogs' 3-4 base defense and the starting "Star" slot DB in Georgia's nickel defense.

He secured a key interception in the second half of a victory at Georgia Tech, but the most memorable moment of Harvey-Clemons' UGA career will be a cruel one. It was Harvey-Clemons who tipped the desperation fourth-down pass by Auburn that was caught by Ricardo Louis for an improbable 73-yard TD in the final minute of a 43-38 victory by the Tigers.

I doubt golden or Shalala take a chance on any "troubled" transfers at least till we get off probation

He can complete his undergrad work with the Oakland Raiders. He qualifies as a valid substance abuser.

Can the kid come and redshirt and get his **** together? If he was willing to do that and is still a talented player I say why not.

we got better young safeties w/o the character issues...pass. plus he had his chance. I think he visited

No homerism be would be the biggest, fastest, & best playmaker of our safeties . Doubt he comes but look at the tape

Let's see, kid get bounced from SEC school for causing trouble and THE U takes him in? Not in this century. I think LSU allows about a dozen failed drug test before they even blink, so maybe there.

My "homerism" comment was in response to TreOFive, who claimed that we already have better safeties on our roster.

So you dont think we do? I am glad to be in the minority in taking guys like bush and carter over this converted LB. Plus he has baggage and baggies.

My question to the board is when are we (i.e., cane fans) going to start appreciating what we have? rather than wanting what we dont? Our secondary is looking really good but I guess guys that play on other teams are always better. BTW I am not a fan of Dorito chips so this is coming strictly on what I feel we have talent wise in our secondary

Bush is a great player when healthy. But he was not healthy all year.

We have seen nothing from Carter thus far, bc he's a true freshman. but given that he did not get on the field over Rodgers and Highsmith - two of the worst safeties I've ever seen at UM - I'm not prepared to assume Carter is better than a UGA starter who made a lot of plays.
