"Which may explain why, after becoming arguably the least respected man in sports in the last couple of years, Emmert hasn’t learned to keep his mouth shut. The more he talks, the worse he makes things. He STILL thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and he can throw out any hooey he wishes to throw out and people are going to buy it."

“There are very few members and virtually no presidents who think it is a good idea to convert ‘student-athletes,’ into paid employees,” Emmert said. Later he self-righteously added, “If you’re going to come to us, you’re going to be a student.”:mmkay:

"The NCAA is going down in flames at some point in the not-too-distant future because it is a corrupt cartel run by bad people. Unfortunately, that day can’t possibly come soon enough."

Food stamps, welfare and section 8 housing is organized slavery that still exists in the United States. In both cases, government handouts and the NCAA; the recipients don't have to accept the terms and conditions that are being offered.

It's funny how John Feinstein's opinion is respected here but if you use that name on a golf message board he is absolutely attacked and his opinion dismissed. Feinstein can't stand Tiger Woods and the feeling is mutual. The Tiger fans will take the thread page after page merely to rip Feinstein as often as possible.

I like his books and think he has a terrific perspective on just about everything, other than overly overboard against Tiger. Not surprising that he defined the NCAA properly.

Wtf? How do food stamps, welfare, and public housing amount to organized slavery?

What does that make Phil as Tiger is far more popular with fellow players than Phil will ever be. Phil has a better public persona as he realizes it is only way to stay relatively close to Tiger with fans. Phil's locker room nickname is FIGJAM F*** I'm Good Just Ask Me

This is why it's going to continue.... most people don't see it.

Just as they didn't see the emperor's new clothes.

This article is full of stuff we already knew. Pointing out the NCAA as a sham organization is not new insight.

There are golf message boards? And the cornballs actually get fired up on there? I've heard it all.

Condescending and conclusory statements are very effective at reinforcing the beliefs of those who share your views. But they aren't effective at persuading anyone else.

Reasonable minds may disagree whether public assistance becomes a crutch that does more harm than good to those it is intended to help. But comparing it to one of the most vile and inhuman experiments in human history is absurd.
