That's the troubling aspect in all of this though. I don't fault the staff for shooting their shot. But you saw this months ago. I saw this months ago. Others saw this months ago.

The real red flag came when Pete said a few months ago that Jobe wasn't going to sign during the early period for Miami (notice he's going to do it for Bama). Why be committed for 2 years to a program, than when the first opportunity arises to sign, you don't?

As you've said, the staff needs to wise up to the BS and see the tea leaves. A flawed person will tell you whatever you want to hear, it's up to you to dissect it.

I agree with what you're saying. But you'd have simps up in arms that if we kept recruiting him that we would've had a chance to keep him home. We know it's not logical by any means. But you know that would've been the narrative.

I don’t believe the staff felt they had a chance after the meeting with Jobe a couple of days ago. I think that’s the public face they wanted out there for public consumption. I think they had a good idea he was gone. But they just wanted to float a positive public picture.

I have "followed" recruiting for decades and learned years ago to simply wait til signing day (now days) and that's when you know who's coming, if they get passed the clearing house and admissions. This year it seems to hold true once again. However, I'd like to propose a change...if a local athlete does this bs I'd like to see all mention of his name permanently removed from this site and banned from further mention. Let him become a non entity in the community...let him return to find he's not welcomed...and no glory ever to befall his name. Let his name be just another 4 letter word, which in some cases it already is! Good luck to this particular youngster - hope he enjoys wearing red and eating grits.
