Same thing imo. In the bag for Ohio. Maybe it would be somewhat different if they brought him on a OV, for Texas A&M or Clemson maybe. But 1% difference. If there is any chance of him flipping, which i dont put stock into. Its gonna be something on the field.
He can OV now and still come as a guest of the staff to those games. For local guys I actually think this is a better approachSame thing imo. In the bag for Ohio. Kool. I get what you are saying. Ill stay pessimistic until proven otherwise. I dislike SFE, just the name makes me barf and they openly flaunt Ohio. Would love to see us pay off one the local Ohio handlers so they can do that with Miami stuff.my read on it is he is not as "in the bag" as he was a few months ago to OSU. I think something happened that turned him off or made him hesitate. **** this is the same kid a month or two ago said no way he visits UM anymore after his secret visit leaked and now he has two more visits set to us. I doubt even OSU assumes he is in the bag with how he seems to change his mind. He could still very well end up at OSU, I am sure some of our top guys last year had a second thought at some point and ultimately stuck it out.
My inquiry was more so directed about who was pulling the strings behind the visit. Ghandi has stated his overall position, he personally does not think Smith is worth the headache and does not see him coming. I doubt scheduling an OV changes much but it is more positive than negative. I was curious about the thought that it was actually OSU/SFE that convinced him to cancel his one day OV (initially) and make it a UOV with an OV later. The reasoning given was not wanting a kid around all that positive momentum this weekend and next. Now, it appears as if he will OV this weekend.
So far the only guy I’ve seen reporting that Smith is coming on an OV this weekend is Frank Tucker who less reliable than week old Gas Station sushi in the middle of FargoThis weekend doesn't need to be about one guy already committed to 2023's WRU.
Needs to be about closing on dudes like Heyward, Artavius Jones, and Ahfua.
If he does come, my hope is that we have a plan to prioritize attention with kids that are truly possible.
Curious if based of his OV now occurring this weekend if your opinion has changed? When you first posted this I could see it both ways. Benefits to OSU/SFE by letting him burn his OV for only a day, AND another different benefit for just keeping him off campus with positive vibes and getting him to push it back.
However now with a full weekend OV, during our biggest recruiting month, seems like it was planned by UM.
I share that opinion. Feels like a major interference. We gotta take a stand some time and say "not now," as we need to focus on bubble guys we can actually make POP!I don’t have a good feeling about this whole thing.
My personal opinion of course.
conflicting reports. Rivals who sucks is claiming an Official this weekend, 247 claiming UOV. So it will be fun to see what really happensmy read on it is he is not as "in the bag" as he was a few months ago to OSU. That's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't explain the behavior of the 7v7 coaches. Why badmouth the local school? What's the motivation behind that? That's just burning bridges. So you giving your verbal today as a WR recruit? Why are you still avoiding this question. You waiting to see something?
Best decision for any recruit is the one that sets him up best for the next level. I don't have a stake in any of these recruits lives and wish we'd get the ones that would bring us back. I do get the process as moving differently doesn't mean **** until we do. Show me.
Bamdwagon is a dumbass term. We wouldn't have a problem if everyone wanted to come. We didn't when we were on top. We got plenty of bandwagon recruits then, so what, they became Canes. Look at what teams these kids go to in high school like a bunch of mercenaries. IMG, Central, STA, Heritage, etc. You don't want those kids?
Moving all over the place to be on a better team. Call it bandwagon, I'll call it smart if it improves their stock. I personally don't like it, it didn't happen in my time. You won and lost with the players you grew up with and helped make you who you were. Gotta move with the times though.
WR room is mid until proven otherwise, TE room after arroyo is meh, RBs if healthy is good. Dawson and TVD got alot of work to put in lol.We have the talent and variation of skill sets in the WR room, as well as dynamic TEs and RBs to have a top 3 offense in the ACC and top 25 minimum nationally in Dawson's scheme. With the OL as well we simply have no excuses. Execute and all these offseason friction go out the window.
Lol Skinner and Williams are far from mid.WR room is mid until proven otherwise, TE room after arroyo is meh, RBs if healthy is good. Dawson and TVD got alot of work to put in lol.
Of course the offense will be better than whatever tf gattis was doing but thats not saying much. We need guys to emerge into big time players in multiple rooms to have a top offense in the acc and top 25 nationally
So was the WR room in 2021. Didnt say they were proven, didnt say it will happen.WR room is mid until proven otherwise, TE room after arroyo is meh, RBs if healthy is good. Dawson and TVD got alot of work to put in lol
What have they done? I like the potential but we gotta see it before we think they can be key pieces in a top 25 offenseLol Skinner and Williams are far from mid.
Not true harley and rambo showed what they can be at the college level. While we can like they players in our wr room none of them have proven at a consistent level that they can be guys that lead u to being a top 25 offense. So was the WR room in 2021. Didnt say they were proven, didnt say it will happen.
If someone gives you the money and support to start a business and it failed, you still had the tools to make it successful.
My point. But of course man always bricking the point.
There are teams that have no comparison from a talent standpoint who are gonna have dynamic offense. Some do it every cycle while cycling new players in and out.
We have the tools. Its on the players to get themselves ready and the coaches to put everybody in position to make plays.
Not beaten dogs, just want to see it actually come together. Way way too many question marks. It’s possible but after we just fielded the worst offense in memory I’ll revert to an earlier post, slow down.In 2022 Houston had #25 offense with 456 yards per game, in 2021, our offense was #20 with 448 yards per game. Top 25 offense is not some great impossibility. Its really not. We have a OC who done it multiple times and a QB who has done it in a similar scheme 2 years ago. From a talent standpoint i will take these pieces over what we had in 2021. Particularly on the OL.
Man here acting like i said top 5. Lmao. Beaten dogs.
Western Kentucly, UTSA, SMU, GA Southern, North Texas, Texas Tech, East Carolina. App St at #26. Not a single one of these teams had better talent than we did.Not true harley and rambo showed what they can be at the college level. While we can like they players in our wr room none of them have proven at a consistent level that they can be guys that lead u to being a top 25 offense.
Also show me the teams with no comparison in talent to us that can have a top 25 offense?
My point to u is we actually dont know if we have the tools all of this is us hoping
Beaten dogs papa. Not beaten dogs, just want to see it actually come together. Way way too many question marks. It’s possible but after we just fielded the worst offense in memory I’ll revert to an earlier post, slow down.
