I think these two need to step up down the stretch. I think if they can rush from inside it would help mccord & aqm on the edge. Our dts don't have any burst off the ball and we need a push inside vs passing teams like duke, pitt, fsu rematch.

Have you ever heard Jelani's name called? Think its safe to say we won't be anytime soon either.

Jelani hasnt sniffed the field has he? Our scheme isnt really predicated on our interior guys getting upfield so much as clogging up the middle. Where we are lacking is in good rushing DEs and OLBs. Chick is not really cut out to be in a 3-4 alignment, Figs is still a Frosh, he's going to be a good one, but still very young. Gaines and Cornelius are Jags, this is where having Devontae Bond would have really helped.

Jelani hasn't redshirted yet, no?

As for Kamalu, he's a 2/3 kid? If so, I know he's not injured so it seems like a waste of a year for him.

Jelani played last year as a true freshman because we had to play him. Jelani has made appearances in 3 games this year, I hope we are redshirting him and he is done playing for the year.

You are going to have to explain to me how Chick isn't cut out to be a 3-4 DE.

IMO, I think out DT/NTs are much improved from last year. Adding Renfrow and getting OP and Curtis going has been nice. Overall, I've been happy with the D-Line play.

Chick is a 3-4 DE, he can hold up against the run. He's not a 4-3 DE that's going to get a speed rush off the edge but he'll get the occasional coverage sack.

Porter has been a ghost this year, I can't remember one memorable play from him all year, huge disappointment

Can't complain too much about our line.. But next does seem to worry me as apart from OP I've been waiting for another under classmen to step up and makes plays

Question is, who might that be, nothing to indicate the current roster at this time has such a step up player. We have to be hopeful that the underclassman and JUCO's coming in will help fill the bill until guys like Trevonte, Chad, Demetrius and others like Moten develop into top shelf lineman. The cupboard is somewhat bare, IMO.

Look at next year's guys:

DT: Pierre, King, Moore
DE: Chick, Hamilton, Kamalu, Holliett, McCord, AQM

Lots of jags. Kind of scary, actually. That's why we're recruiting 2 JUCO DTs (Wyche, Stuckey) and 2 stud DEs (Thomas, Jackson).

We need SOMETHING out of the DTs besides having the ability to play patty-cake with OL. I'm hoping someone out of Kamalu, Hamilton, and Holliett shows something in the spring.
