Hard to believe...You used to be able to get a degree at UNC after your freshman year, a PHD in a couple of months as a Soph, then just hang around campus your jr. and sr. year..

UNC has higher admission standards than we do but his grades could be really bad.

UNC Releases DB James Pierre - North Carolina - Scout

.Despite signing with the Tar Heels, the Florida defensive back won't be enrolling at UNC.

James Pierre informed Inside Carolina that North Carolina has released him from his National Letter of Intent. He was denied admissions by UNC.

Pierre, a 6-foot, 166-pound cornerback from Deerfield Beach (Fla.), originally committed to Miami a year ago. However, he switched his pledge to UNC last October.
Despite signing with UNC in February, Pierre never officially visited Chapel Hill.

It is interesting that he stated he had been thinking about flipping for a while and playing time was his motivation.

Breaking: Pierre receives release from UNC

. Per his high school coach Jevon Glenn, safety James Pierre (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) received his release from his National Letter of Intent that he signed in February with North Carolina, as first-reported by 247Sports.com.

Pierre was denied admissions by UNC.

As a senior, Pierre had 48 tackles, four interceptions and two pass deflections.

Per Glenn, Pierre has already received interest from Syracuse, NC State, Illinois and Temple.

Pierre (6-2, 175) is working on setting up a visit with Syracuse for next week.

The three-star recruit is ranked as the nation’s No. 48 safety and the No. 100 prospect in Florida in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. He’s immediately eligible and has five years to play four years of eligibility.

Any time you have a chance at a kid that can upgrade your position, you do it. Upgrade doesn't mean the kid starts his freshman year or is a first round pick.

But upgrade means he comes in and automatically passes garbage like Hemsley and Mayes and improves our depth (maybe pushing more of the crap out sooner than later, too ). He's a good cb prospect.
