This is why people need to think twice before posting the "Kul is giving out last-minute Plan D desperation offers and is a lazy recruiter." There's just so much we don't know that goes on behind the scenes. Look at Jeff Thomas and Mike Harley last year as examples. I'm not saying don't post - it's a message board and there's nothing else to do - just try to temper the spewing of nonsense...

Most of this board is clueless. It's obvious this staff recruits kids and builds relationships even if they haven't officially offered.

These recruits aren't walking around feeling dissed by UM. If they weren't showing any interest the staff wouldn't be recruiting them so close to NSD.

SO by what your saying the staff has made no mistakes? They offered Bandy late which shouldnt of been we still got him thank god and they offered Chatfield late and we will get him. They make mistakes there not perfect, u right about one thing though they arent Golden Shannon or Coker they know what they are doing. But as fans we can question **** as we did with Bandy and Chatfield and in the end the board was right they deserved offers.

Most on the board are aware and believe that staffs make mistakes, including ours, but a lot of people spouting off about firing Rumph and kicking Kul off of recruiting are so clueless about how our recruiting works. A lot of it is handled by region. For example, everyone likes to beat off about landing Jeff Thomas, and I believe Kul was his primary recruiter. Hence, when he announced the entire staff chanting, "Kuuuuuuullllllllllll" in the War Room.

Yeah kool got major pull at that program. People are clueless that is all

No they didn’t drop him, his family were big Tennessee fans growing up and he went and committed there at the time

we shouldnt be recruiting incoming freshman based on replacing guys currently leaving. you should be looking at least a year, if not two ahead. knowing that those 2 would be gone regardless after 2018, is reason enough to have been recruiting more DT's.

you want them ready to go by their soph year. not counting on them as freshman.

you want them ready to go by their soph year. not counting on them as freshman.

Theres always room for guys that they really want...they make room thats whatelite staffs do make room for elite guys

You also don't want to offer scholarships to JAGs when the next class is considered elite at that position group. Not that I am saying Jamarcus is JAG because that's not my opinion. However, by your logic we would have offered 2 more DBs last cycle and would have clouded up our chances at the elite DB class in Storm 18.

ryan fines was a jag and they got him to leave, no one in their right mind though we would ever have Kendrick Norton leave early for the nfl draft when he got here

it takes time to build relationships and stack talent. that's why we are so hot on the trail right now for '19 and '20. the staff is killing it and we'll be fine if we can grab briggs, chatman, nesta, and Chatfield to close

He’s definitely a DT down the road but he could play the Chad Thomas SDE spot right away for help/depth purposes

You don’t waste a potential redshirt/development year for him to provide 3rd strong depth. That’s what has bitten us too many times in the past. Chatfield and Silvera plays next year, Rousseau and Chatman redshirt, hopefully...

If he signs wouldn't you agree the staff played it perfectly? They we're on him early, backed off and went elsewhere due to other elite targets coming available, and now they circle back when we have more of a need.

No disrespect to Kul but that video was corny and staged. If Thomas didn't qualify so late he's at Bama or elsewhere. We basically beat out Louisville and Illinois. Nice get, but not some major coup by Kul.
