Jamarcus Chatman

This whole thing with Chatman is weird.

At one point, it was reported he was Kool's #1 target. Kool's #1 target didn't have an offer? Weird stuff.

Then, he committed and decommitted about a hundred times.

Now, Chatman claims he would have committed here if he had an offer. Now, he has that offer. I'd expect him to commit pretty quickly and then decommit if he holds true to form.

I’m taking it that he was playing games when the staff wanted a commitment but he balked and we “pulled his scholly” he gets a little salty but we keep crooting and now that we seem to be a bit desperate all parties are trying To save face before the eventual commitment

**** I sound homer ASF sigh

Asked Ivins on 247. His take was that Chatman wanted to commit back in April, but told the staff he still was going to look at other schools. Staff wouldn't take his commitment as a result. And then he committed to LSU with his teammates a week later.

Had DJ Johnson not transferred, I doubt we'd be circling back. But the reality is we have an open spot that he fits, and the staff has always thought he could play here

This kid taking DJ's spot would be an immense upgrade. But I see Chatman being a DT.

Don't care what the circumstances are/were, I'd just be happy to get him.

A lot of people saw DJ as a DT eventually too.

The difference is DJ only was told that he would be a DE from the articles I read. Chatman is being told DT & DE from what I'm reading, so eventually being a full time DT shouldn't be a problem.

Theres something either real fishy with this recruitment or Petes reporting. One of the two was ****ed up here.

Pete saying Staff was super high on Chatman. Then began saying the staff cooled on Chatman to the point they basically stopped recruiting him Then Pete says on the DL there some "secret prospects" we are going after, which sounds like BS (who knows if thats real or who its referring to). Now Chatman is being recruiting again and is taking an OV, and looks like might be committing soon.

Something aint right about that. Either Pete was wrong, or we are taking a plan b or c kid. You Don't recruit a kid, then stop because you have no room/dont want him just to secretly re-recruit him and take his commitment later.

And we're going for Dennis Briggs who according to everyone is an FSU offer away from completely bailing. Yet we've also got Michael Thompson coming for an OV, and potentially Keondre Coburn. Oh an we're still recruiting that one kid Carson and like another dude or two.

idk man this dl recruiting is getting retarded.

In Kool I Trust. I'm officially not giving a **** who we get on the DL, as long as we get Tyson Campbell and Nesta signs, I couldn't give less of a **** what else we do.

That's not the way I remember it.

This guy was apparently one of our top prospects at DT. One of Kool's favorite guys. We felt pretty good about him, and then I remember he committed to LSU along with two of his friends/teammates. One of those kids was not a D1 type kid... so the speculation was that Chatman went on that visit and committed to LSU just to get his friend the package deal offer.

We started looking around more once he had committed elsewhere (obviously, why wouldn't we). Then the LSU thing fell apart, one of the dudes committed to Georgia, and Chatman committed to Tennessee I believe. He has family who like them or something along those lines.

Then Butch Jones happened. And now we've come full circle.

This is accurate

No its not. Chatman tried to commit twice and staff told him no. Was he supposed to sit around and wait on UM to make their offer commit-table?

If what you are saying is true then he wasn’t at the top of our DT board last Spring like people are saying. This is a weird situation and somebody is lying to save face but as one poster said I don’t care at this point. He’s a definite take.

Facts- at first he wanted to play with his teammates at Rome, ga. They all had an offer from LSU and then he committed. His family in particular are Tennessee fans and he eventually committed to them. That’s defintiely what happened

Why would Chatman be at the top of the miami DT board with monsters like Nesta and Thompson on that board too. That was another BS rumor.

I think People are making that up, but regardless I dont care, he was one of my top targets in the class when we was recruiting him and he can play big time football. His competition sh*ts on what dj Johnson played against in northern Cali and it’s not even close.

Probably top after nesta in the spring is where he was supposedly on the board. Regardless this kid is a monster period and anchored the best dline in Georgia the last 2 years

This was after he tried to commit to UM and they told him there was no room. Facts

Reading this thread makes me wonder about people's intelligence. The spots clearly opened up once the DT's left, the staff CLEARLY thinks DB is our weakest position and we are leaving guaranteed spots to TC/PS2. We only have so many scholarships to give out, there aren't 100 scholarships to give. Once the DT's left two scholarship spots opened up. Golden and Co. left this roster in shambles before they left, this **** isn't going to get fixed in year 2 of Richt's own classes. SMH people are clueless.

Whether Rj McIntosh or Kendrick Norton leave or not, it shouldn't have changed anything for our recruiting strategy in the 2018 class is the problem with that. You want to know why? because after next season you are guaranteed to lose 3 DTs anyway (Rj, Norton, Willis), which would leave us with Bethel, Ford, Nesta, Tyreic Martin, and any 2019 DTs we get. That literally makes no sense. You aren't supposed to wait to get DTs until after they graduate! You get DTs in preparation for guys graduating. This isn't ****ing RB or WR where you can just plug and play Freshman. This is DL who unless they are a complete stud, need time to develop.

So basically this is either atrocious planning, or we just missed on a few guys. Or who the **** knows what is happening, but those other 2 options are the most likely.

And I'm not even really worried, because I think no matter who is out there Kool is gunna make them play at a high level

I agree. And the fact that 2 DTs left early turned it from a position of need to what appears to be a desperation scramble.

But it’s not desperation when this kid is legit as it gets period

The fact is that it's one month from signing day and we don't even have 1 DT committed (even though Nesta looks solid), makes it look like a scramble.

Kul gave up on him when he verballed to lsu. Lazy.

The kid pulled some ****ery first if I recall. Don't just twist the narrative to fit your agenda.

Valid isn't known for this, trolling or other antics/schtick. We do have mods here to prevent bad behavior.

Just pointing out that Kool didn’t get lazy, didn’t like that he got played by the kid.
