Jake Rudock???

I'm not sure who you think he's better than on our roster??

But iirc he was all but signed and delivered and golden had bigger concerns like say DT

He was already set to go to Iowa... However, Golden did want him hard but if he came he would not seen the field until this year... As the poster said, we have other concerns... Qb hasn't been an issue for the past 3 years...

QB hasn't been an issue? QB has been a big issue since Berlin left.

Since 2011 qb hasn't been the main issue for this team... And outside of a few games Berlin wasn't better than the last two qbs... Morris and Harris had their flaws but Berlin junior was quite awful... He was the weak-link on a championship squad... And although he bounced back his senior year it still took him a while to bounce back...

I'm sorry but we should not expect our offense to score every drive... Our qbs performed well enough the past 3 years for us to win more games... Although its quite repetitive our defense has been the anchor to this team's success...

Kid was committed to Iowa for a long time. Shannon never offered him. Golden made a run but it was too late in the game. He is a good kid and decent quarterback but not a terrible loss.

Berlin beat UiF and FSU every time he played them. That's all you need to know.

Although I admire his performances against those teams(Especislly UF 03), he still was the anchor on a championship squad... You mention he beat those teams like its college baseball... He had outstanding talent around him... Revisit his performance both seasons... His junior year was horrible... He would have killed to have Jacory's junior year... He would have loved to have Morris production this past year... QB was the only thing holding us back during his tenure... However he provided a solid season his senior which has been surpassed by our previous 2 qbs...

Rudock committed to Iowa very early in the process. He was never recruited by Shannon. Golden made a late push when it became clear the Bridgewater was going elsewhere. As I recall Rudock's family were Miami season ticket holders so they took the in-home as a courtesy to Golden.

Exactly. I remember the season ticket holder/Dad was a big Canes fan aspect of this story too. It was never going to happen though as Golden only was able to make contact way too late and the kid was going to hold his word to Iowa. They're not perfect but this area would be sooooooo much better if we had more programs like STA and less like (insert your choice of many) here. Their coach is as big a Syracuse fan as there is but you don't see him funneling players to that dump of a town the way another guy established a freaking pipeline to another dump of a town in Morgantown. What ever happened to that guy? Did he get another job or something? And Icee coming back to UM is not equivalent.

Clearly you haven't watched a game in the last three years then

Thats revisionist history. We won inspite of him, not because of him.

BS! Brock wasn't always the best but the second half he played against the Gators was magnificent. Pure magic. **** of a night in the Orange Bowl.

Berlin was at worst consistently competent. That's something we can't say about anybody that followed him.

4 QBs I talked a lot about during that cycle:

Kevin Hogan - I loved him. He hasn't cleaned up his release as much as I hoped for, but we'll see what happens this year.

Jake Rudock - In the form of my style of QB - "pass-first point guard." He's a less talented (weaker) version of what I saw in Sean White this year.

Jacoby Brissett - I liked him A LOT. Thought he had a chance to be special. He's sorta busted so far, but I think I have a bet with someone on here that he may become an All-conference level player at NC State. Not the type of QB I'd want our defense to face.

Gary Nova - I liked him the least of this group, but thought he could be good. He's thrown so many picks that I'd have to say I was off here. He became a solid starter early in his career in that he started a lot of games, but was pulled this last year. See if he gets it together before his career is over.

Yea a different qb would have had us at 11 wins... Get real our defense was giving up 500 yards per ACC opponent... The qb position was good enough for us to be more successful the past 3 years. However our defense was not.

I agree with NYCanes89... He was quite inconsistent but he had talent around him... He wasn't better than our last 2 qbs... However the overall team was better then...
