Jaden Harris was all over the field on Saturday, earning ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors after recording a pick and teaming with Elijah Alston for a sack. He spoke with reporters about his performance and the team’s mindset:

On his interception: I was reading the quarterback and tracking the ball, but it was kind of weird. I didn't know it had got hit, so I was tracking it as if it was a slant. I was driving there, and it was taking too long to come out, so I overran a little...

The confidence early in the game is what stood out to me, especially since last season that was what he seemed to lack some. I want to see Harris string together a few more good games, but he is really reducing the anxiety about the safety position, and may eliminate the need to spend big for a portal safety, especially if Williams keeps being disruptive on the back end and Patterson gets some minutes.

Can't tell if that's DJ U or G Mertz practicing above but its one of em LMAO

To the idea that Mario wants to get back to the old Canes "practice was tougher than games", what unit will our team face that will be better than what they face in practice this year?

A QB better than Cam? A team with better skill players? Either line seems like a no as well.

My guess is the only opportunity (until you hopefully get into bigger postseason games) would be at defensive back and that may prove to be inaccurate as well.

If we get the chance to play the big boys postseason we will be outmatched at receiver and d back. Still need to get the truly elite guys. That said our QB and trenches can make up some ground. Our receivers and backs are great, but not first round dudes. Hoping to see Jojo and Carr playing a big role late in the season because they have those traits.

What first round receivers does Georgia have?

This is the way it should be. Practices need to suck as much as possible without getting the guys hurt

Ahhh..good times..I remember when folks were already penciling in Zaquan Patterson as a starter by midseason. Now he is our 4th safety at best because I absolutely trust JHarris, Meesh, and Markeith back there as of today as our top 3 safeties. All 3 played very well.

What are you talking about? Miami will not be outmatched at WR! Miami starting WR or Brown, George and Restreopo had 800 yards or more last year. Horton showed this Saturday, he will be a problem for opponents. Also, if Arroyo maintains his play similar to UF all year, Miami WR really will be hard to stop!

Only a handful of teams have a better WR group than us. DBs I agree with you - our starters are pretty solid, but we don't have an apparent stud there and we have little quality depth. DB is the only real area of concern on this team at this time.

We have an excellent QB and are strong on both lines of scrimmage. That's the formula for winning a lot of games.

Patterson could still be either starting or receiving considerable playing time by mid-season. Still you have to love how the safety room has responded.

How many teams in 2024 have 3 starting WR who had 800 yards or more in 2023? The answer is 1! Miami!
