Given how desperate we'll probably be at DT in 2014, wouldn't it be wise to give him a year to make the transition?
Maybe redshirt him and give him a year to learn the position and gain weight. He's big already.
Not ideal but we'll be looking real thin at that position after this year.
Does his skill set translate to DT?

I think we need him at DE this year. My wet dream is that Jelani becomes a starter and supplants Shayon.

Chickillo, Pierre, Porter, Jelani as the starters.

Luther, Shayon, Moore, Ivery, Grimble, King, Cain, Hoilett off the bench.

I don't think JHam is explosive enough to be a DE in a 4-3. In a 3-4 he will do well as an outside DE.

I don't think Hamilton has the speed to really get around the egde as a pass-rusher. However, it's clear that our philosophy is to have a more stout guy on the egde to help stop the run, and bring in our hybrids on 3rd & long; to rush the passer...

Hamilton is fine at DE, because as stated above, we're essentially going with two types of players at the DE position, based on down and distance. So with that being the case, our numbers at DE are actually a concern, moreso than at DT...

We'll still have 6-7 young DT's for 2014... If there's anyone whose a candidate to move to DT, it's David Perry...

If Briscoe toughens up, he could be added back into that mix as well. I'd also like to see what Sonny Odogwu could do at DT....He's so wild, he can't help but cause havoc.

Which porster is gonna say some dumb enough **** to get the neggers out of the woodwork?

I thought Grimble looked solid against the almost 1st string line in the spring game. He was flying to the ball, looked real active.

Don't know if he was blowing his assignments or freelancing but, I thought he looked better.

If Hamilton can't play DE that is one thing but, I don't think we need to move him inside for depth.

Our DT's were bad last season but, Porter and Robinson didn't put in full years. Pierre is at the stage where he should make a leap if he is going to be any good. King, Moore, Grimble could make us 6 deep and that might not be too bad. I'll panic if the line is a sieve again and we don't sign anyone noteworthy in the 2014 class.

We aren't as talented, this year, as I would like but our starting bunch appears to be more than capable. My concern is more with the subsequent years and the lack of "rising" young players we currently have on the roster. We should be hearing a bit more of showing flashes from Grimble, Moore, Ivery. We need JUCO help at the DT position. True freshmen DT's, I don't care how highly heralded, are ready to play D1 football.

Just saying... Art Kehoe himself said he doesn't know what he's doing yet. Which may mean he gets a Redshirt, or waists a year blocking for extra points. Or!!!...we could always put Sonny O on the field before he's ready, only to see him look like Joel Figueroa..

With a guy that large, that active, that strong...throw his a$$ in there at DT during camp, and see if he can avoid jumping the snap, and possibly blow a play up before it starts... Yes, he's a wild man, so I rather use that untrained tazmanian on defense, with one assignment of collapsing the pocket; if all else fails with our other back-up DT's...
