We know it's still one of the most racist places in this country. This video is made by students at the university to expose their racist peers. @ the 2:50 mark. Two minority students try to enter a beginning of the year Poor party and are denied access. The only minorities granted entry to the party were athletes primarily football players. Amari I'm sure you've having a great time "reppin" Miami in bama with those racist ***** who only interact with you because you can run, jump and catch.

I'm no Jesse Jackson, but **** I would love to see just 1 5* big time recruit come out and say. You know what "I was considering Alabama but after doing some research and finding out how racist the majority of the student body is, i decided not to attend an institution with that type of reputation".

I mean **** 13 mythical National titles on the sweat of blacks and whites alike and off the field they still cant get it right. And ppl thought Phillip Sims would get a fair shake there lol. Granted he SUCKS but he was never going to be given a chance anyways.

It's a good question. Depends on the kid. For a kid from the south, it might just be business as usual in the south. For a black kid who's not used to it, the football players are probably so insulated from the rest of the populace, maybe it barely registers.
 
My family and I are going to Mississippi for Christmas to visit and stay with family. I have a 11 yr old black kid who I have taken in, and treat like a son. I am honestly worried about him hearing or family saying something I don't like. They are mostly all racist Reilly coopers in tenn , Alabama , Mississippi , and georgia areas. Smile to your face call you a n***** to your back. Never not met a racist there. I spent half of my childhood there.

Phillip Sims didn't start because he wasn't good enough. The fans may be racist, but do you think Nick Saban gives a **** what color his players are? Get that nonsense out of here.

I had a nole friend tell me that probably a reason jameis went to fsu over bama, he had no hard evidence of that statment but im sure if jameis was white he wouldnt leave that state.
 
5 years ago when i was visiting colleges i noticed this... Being a black male from NY the deep south was a culture shock to me... I would never tell any recruit to play football in the deep south. Most of them are already use to this growing up down there but most of them get paid to go to these schools...
 
I mentioned this in another thread a while back..I couldnt attend a university that when I go on my official visit, the coaches and tour guides give me a list of places that I should not be at after the hours of 10pm because the people "are still living in the 1960s in those parts". And you know that happens in Ole Miss, ALA, USCe, WVU, among others. Smh.

I'm not defending Alabama, but come on that's a little extreme. I live in Tennessee and work in North Georgia, and sure there are racists in Tennessee and in Georgia, but to say "They are mostly all racist Reilly coopers in tenn , Alabama , Mississippi , and georgia areas" is ignorant and stupid. I'd say there are as many racists in Miami. A lot of the Cuban-Americans I grew up with were as racist or more racist than people I know here. Yes there are racists here, but it's not 1960. Maybe out in the middle of nowhere, but go to the cities, and the college campuses and that stuff is not rampant. It exists, and Ole Miss can be bad, and I won't defend them, but to make blanket statements like that is wrong. Sorry, you're acting ignorant. And, I'm not a "Southerner." I was born in Maryland, and grew up in Miami, but have lived in New Orleans, Tallahassee, Chattanooga, as well as Baltimore and Miami, and honestly, Miami and Baltimore were the 2 most racist cities I lived in.

Ignorant is saying they are all racist. Lived in Alabama and miss area for 7-8 yrs of mylife , and I go back annually. I am primarily from a college town. It is a tri city area in Alabama.
A few questions for you
1. Are you black or white
2 if you are white ,are most of your relationships mostly business? If so that explains your experience.

I can say with complete confidence, that I can not think of anyone I have met in that area that don't refer to blacks as n***ers , when in a comfortable setting. ,

Now it has gotten better but most are still racist in the bama/miss area. Guess I can't speak for tenn/ ga.
 
It's unfortunate some of these kids aren't really aware, or don't care. A kid like Fournette could affect real change if he just picks LSU and says he didn't pick Alabama because of the way african american are treated.....You bet those football loving rednecks would change there tune in a heartbeat.

If you dig, I'm sure you can find similar about just about any institution in the south aside from HBCU's. Every school was prejudiced/racist once upon a time (us included). Some fought harder to keep their racist ways, and some are far more overt and less receptive to change even today, but no matter where you go you will find some prejudiced and/or outright racist people. That includes the most liberal northeast colleges.

I understand why a kid plays there. He's following top coaching. This is 4-5 yrs of his life to put him on a path to make millions. Why not go where there is the greatest exposure.

As a black dude myself, I have no problem with a kid going to play there. **** if everyone had the, "They're racist so why bother" attitude, there would be no progress anywhere.
