I’m not saying anything groundbreaking, but it’s a point that deserves more attention. Programs like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, and others have always invested heavily in securing top athletes. This has been the norm for years, but with the rise of NIL, it’s more important than ever.

Cam Ward was worth every penny and proved to be a program changer. He single-handedly transformed the perception of the program. Beck, despite the high cost, has the potential to do the same. Now, we’re starting to capture the attention of other big-name players, positioning the program for even greater success.

If you drive through the state of Florida, you will see Florida Gators billboards building awareness to raise money for their athletics. Why aren’t we this aggressive?

As a small private university, the University of Miami needs to step up its efforts in promoting the Canes Collective and significantly increase its fundraising efforts. The school cannot afford to rely solely on its current donors and needs to expand its horizons to compete with the elite programs. @DMoney and CIS do a phenomenal job promoting our collection but the school shouldn’t rely simply on this site. Our leaders need to prioritize this and be far more aggressive in this department so we can raise the funds to win championships.

The small tent from the bogo Black Friday sale in the Fan Zone is a nice touch, but nothing compared to signing up for Kia emails for a free frisbee.

Much more focus needed.

I thought USF and Louisville had more promos at those games.

Whatever you think about Beck he is a nationally known name to people on all levels, from high school kids who probably follow UGA on social to scouts and GMs on nfl level. He will keep UM brand in the cfb loop all offseason and that affects pre season rankings, perception, recruiting, NIL, portal WR movement, etc.

No one knows Emery or Judd and it wasnt gonna move the needle no matter how much sunshine pumpers tried. We really need a sound defense tho, that is the common denominator. Teams werent going crazy at the sight of motion and just confused every play, we blew a top ranked offense with NFL QB because we neglected defense and some would also say special teams.

I’d just say that based on the last 20 years or so there’s one team that really doesn’t belong in conversations to land a Cam Ward, or a Carson Beck. Or to continue to be in the Top 10 recruiting high school and portal

What happens when we actually get those players on the field is a different story but when you’ve got people at programs like Georgia and OSU mentioning Miami as problems for them getting players I think the fact that we are aggressive with money and compensation is pretty clear

I’m in wait and see mode, but if Miami manages to land the big names currently showing interest, it will largely be because of Beck.

Our NIL program is strong, but Miami still needs all the financial support it can get to compete for these recruits. Programs like Oregon and Texas have seemingly “**** you money”, and if we want to keep up, we need to find ways to upgrade our program to beat these schools.

The university needs to be more aggressive.

We host Notre Dame in Week 1 and the Gators in Week 4.

Riding with an inexperienced and unproven QB1 in two defining games would've been coaching malpractice

Whatever you think about Beck ...
FWIW, here's what UGA fans thought about Beck's departure — injured elbow and all — when news broke Thursday (and before the bitter "we didn't want him anyway" horde took over once it was clear he was gone to UM).

Its really plain as day our biggest and arguably only issue at this time is on the field.

Mario CANNOT miss on his third DC.

Team building, recruiting, general management, funding etc etc

For the first time those are non factors but our fans do a better job of propping up national negative perceptions than we do.

The biggest lie ever told about UM sports is Miami not having money.

2023 when NIL really exploded I was worried we were gonna be left behind

Not to open this can of worms but it’s why I didn’t really like our fans criticizing people like Ruiz even if he deserved it. We needed that aggressive money play

Id also say that knowing some people involved in NIL at other schools it really has been a **** show for everyone. We can of course do better but look at the landscape, everyone is flying by the seat of their pants. I would say without being in these rooms personally, it looks like we’ve done very well relatively speaking

Outside of the P2, we're really the only school who is consistently making big moves in the portal.

I'd like to believe that with college athletes finally having real money, that living in S.Fla will be an even bigger draw than it was for broke college kids.

Who wants to live in Tuscaloosa or State College or Gainesville with $$$$ and nothing to do?

I think you answered your question in the first paragraph with the first five words in the sentence that immediately follows.

UM isn't UF or FSU nor will it ever be.

Other than being universities in the state of Florida with a history and expectation for football success, what does Miami actually have in common with our two blood rivals?

UF has about 35K undergrads and FSU has about 32k. UM has about 12.5k.

UF enrollment by county (2023): Broward (5,074), Dade (4,801), PB (4,067).

FSU enrollment by county (2023): Broward (3,264), Dade (3,254), PB (2,530)

At Miami, meanwhile, almost 2/3 of students are from outside Florida. As much as it'd nice to see 'em, throwing up billboards across the state encouraging fans to support a "process" that is literally changing by the week might not be the best way to go.

We're the talk of CFB...again.
Plenty of kids are aware.
Spend the money on the croots vs spending it on billboards.

G'ville or Tally or Tuscaloosa would be paradise compared to being stuck in State College, South Bend, Columbus or Ann Arbor

Yeah, talking heads and media in general will eat up the Beck story . . . moved on from UGA, elbow surgery and recovery, lured to Miami by perky hoopster lady friend. Get ready for it.

Then again, what man in history hasn't been led somewhere by the "allure" of a woman?

If Beck trains half as hard as those two, he’ll be ready to go!

This is a win win win — Beck has a chance to reestablish his stock, Miami upgrades the room, Georgia moves on to their next like they expected when he was draft ready.

The point was more about being aggressive to promote the collective or raise money, not to do billboards. We are doing a horrific job fundraising when season ticket holders don’t even know you can donate.

Agree 100% about enhancing efforts to get more fans — alums, locals and T-shirt fans spread across the globe — to contribute to the cause.

The whole NIL "concept" has been completely FUBAR since Day One.

Let's hope when Play-for-Pay goes into effect July 1, that there's at least some clarity and those of us who care about UM Football/Athletics will be provided a better of understanding of why and how our financial support benefits the Canes

It’s a silly conversation unless you know what the NIL budgets are. How do you know we did not outspend both FSU and Florida. To win in NIL it helps to be in a big market, to have well run and well funded collectives, to have an experienced and large staff supporting, great talent identifiers, and 20 wealthy folks each willing to fund 500K every year. It’s not one thing that allows you to win.
