For people who might be able to speak from an actual knowledge base. Are the bowl game practices enough time to implement major changes and start planning for next year on defense?(I don't think people will get their wish with Coach D) If LuCane gets his wish and the coaches prove to be flexible, the best I can hope for is we use the practices and the game as a trial run for next year. Play the guys who will be here next year plenty.

I know Tubberville hired an OC between the end of the regular season and bowl game and was running a new offense for the Chick-Fil-A bowl.

I should but I don't know the exact practice restrictions but it should be similar to or a little more than spring ball. It's not going to be enough for wholesale changes but you could certainly implement bits and pieces

I think it should be based on opportunity to land the right candidate, not the timeline of a bowl game. IF there is a good and affordable DC available now, then yes, you make a change. But I'd prefer we wait until the coaches conference where coach Golden can network and find the right guy.

That wasn't really the point. I'm asking the question under the assumption that no change at DC will be made. Considering what we have coming back and recruited, we don't have the personnel to run what we saw this year even if it was effective. Could major things be implemented as a trial run in advance of next season.

I believe it's 21 extra days of practice, but with the players we have now it would be a waste of time. The 2014 recruiting class will be our only option to be a better defense, this is the worst front in the last 20 years.

I too, believe it's like 21 extra days of practice, but with the scheme we have now, it will be a waste of time. The 2014 defensive scheme will be our only option to be a better defense, which is the worst scheme in the last 20 years.

Another question.
Is there enough time to go back to a 4-3?

Does it make sense to implement a 4-3 temporarily to suit our personnel?
