We are in the fcking college world series and some of you arent even supporting the players and too busy btching about how we are mediocre. We are not mediocre when we are 1 of 8 teams to make it to the college world series. Get a grip and start suporting these players.

What does this even mean?

How does posting on a message board correlate to supporting players?

So you are saying if someone posts something that you perceive to be negative, a UM player will 100% read it and it will negatively affect him the next game?

What people posts on here does not affect the players. I'm extremely confused by what you mean when saying "supporting the players".

Probably could have used a better word. Just tired of people btching saying we are mediocre and how we are going to get stomped when we are in the college world series

Fair. The frustration is understandable though. I don't think it should be taken out on this team as much as it is, but the results this athletic department has produced over the past decade has caused a lot of misery for us and the school.

That being said, we are one of 7 teams left as of now and are still fighting for a national title. Lets get this win on Wednesday.

Im not sure what the point of this thread is, but I will say this. Ive always felt that going 0-2 in the college world series is worse than losing in the super regional.

Great post by the OP as we have way too much negativity here and way too little appreciation

So, you'd rather lose in the semi's rather than make the finals? Strange outlook.

I don't think anyone on here is not supporting the amateur players. It's the professional coaches that get paid a handsome wage for mediocre and subpar results that people have the problem with. Sure we're in the CWS this year, which is awesome, but what about the last seven years that have ended miserably and then get rewarded with an extension? That's where the problem lies. If a player has an off series or has had a quiet bat for a few games, or has made a few fielding errors lately and we state the obvious, that's not us fans being unsupportive towards the players, again, that's just stating the obvious. Anyone who suits up for the canes and gives their all will never go unsupported by 99% of fans.

We are not surprised you are confused by his post. Well said OP!

All of that is dead on balls, but two huge aspects of college baseball are vastly different for UM since I was in school there are quite a ways before...it is very easy to overlook, since there are truly some glaring deficiencies and contrasts now at the back end of the Morris tenure, but that said:

conference affiliation and scholarship reductions have coincided with a declining Skipper IMHO. We were always able to control our scheduling to a much greater degree as an independent before 2004-2005. The ACC now dictates most everything. With strong conference affiliation ( IN BASEBALL ANYWAY), comes a much greater knowledge of managers and teams...overall, the better skippers will always come out on top. Morris does ok with who he should do ok with....but overall, playing the same cast of characters year in and year out is tougher.

Scholly reductions and the effect on private schools haven't stopped schools like Vandy, etc...but it seems as if USC and Stanford currently have our problems to a larger degree anyway...

None of these are excuses mind you, we don't seem to come up big when it counts and fundamentals seem to be missing quite often, but it is reality.

What scholly reductions? Scholarship allocation for baseball has been at 11.7 since 1991.
