Need to have a huge Nigerian/west African student organization or something really appealing. I think Ojomo is Nigerian too.

When you look at it, trading him for fines is an upgrade or over even Martin

For those who care about PFF, this kid had a 76.7 grade in 388 snaps last year. Norton, by comparison had a grade of 77.0 for us

He absolutely impacts numbers. He counts against the 25 scholarships limit per year.

You sure?

He isn't. It has no impact on our cycle numbers-wise.

Yes, he does count against the 25. All first-time grants of financial aid count as initial counters, except when giving a scholarship to a walk-on who has been on campus for at least 2 years.

True, but we have 28 available initial counters for 2018, so there's room

Only to the extent that we don't want to fill those spots with recruits. That's my point. We have 28 available spots. That number can't be increased, so by taking this guy and Boulware, we now can only sign 26 in this class.

So, it’s not like we have a bunch of targets left anyway

we've had a ton of attrition... dont think this guy will impact numbers.

Nope. And if that were the case, then why haven't you accounted for guys that we're losing to transfers like Owens and Fines?

On it's own, I like adding what will probably be solid, experienced depth. That said, taking this guy means we have 1 less scholarship available for the 2018 class.

Transfers will probably still impact this team. Before this transfer, we were bad at DT depth and this allows us to possibly RS one of the incoming freshman.

You are only thinking about the 85 scholarship limit. We've got plenty of room there.

I'm talking about the 25 scholarship per year limit. We don't have plenty of room there and it's impossible to create more room at this point. Taking this kid reduces the number of kids we can sign in the 2018 class.
Although you're correct about him counting, you are incorrect in regards to the 25 scholarship limit.

As per bylaw 15.5.1.10.1 from the NCAA Manual

"15.5.1.10.1 Limitation on Number of National Letter of Intent/Offer of Financial Aid Signings—Bowl
Subdivision Football. [FBS] In bowl subdivision football, there shall be an annual limit of
28 on the number of prospective student-athletes who may sign a National Letter of Intent or an institutional
offer of financial aid from the initial signing date of the regular signing period of the National Letter
of Intent through May 31. (Adopted: 1/16/10 effective 8/1/10)"

Those don't matter unfortunately. Max we can sign per year is 28

Yeah, I understand. I think 26 is probably the max # we'd be able to sign anyways, if we somehow hit on all 4 AH guys. We just don't have that many realistic targets left

19 signed in December

Close with
1) Ezzard
2) Briggs
3) Nesta
4) Chatfield
5) PS2
6) TC
7) Xavier Peters / OL / Chatman

+ Boulware & this dude, And we're done

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 19 signed. 4 targets in AH kids = 23. Plus 2 grad transfers in Boulware and this guy. Plus any other 3=28 total. We're good.

This is huge, experienced depth in the trenches. He's 6'3 310 just what we needed, good job by staff. our only true 1 tech is ford and he's green and inexperienced .. This brings competition and depth.

1 tech- Ford; Tito/Nesta; Coburn (possibly)
3 tech- Willis; Bethel; Martin/Briggs/Chatman

No he doesn’t, he only has an effect on the final 85 scholarship limit. He will not count as a member of the 2018 class. We will likely have at least 5 scholarships available this year even if signing day goes well...

False, go read the NCAA scholarship rules.

Technically you’re right but that rule is just for show, at the end of the day we’ll find a way to add who we can. Most common way to do that is by rolling the early enrollees back a class. Tennessee signed like 33 players last January for example.

wierdest sh_t i ever seen is that interview.

Lol dude idolized Dee Brown.

This is a big get as he likely is better than any juco dt we would bring in. He seems to be ready to step right in the rotation and atleast give us something like Moten.
Plus size in that he is 6'3 300. Also if he can allow us to redshirt 1 or 2 of our incoming freshman dt targets. If its Briggs and Chatman imo both needs redshirts to get bigger and stronger.
