Incoming DT Transfer

Listen to The Legend. I told you guys awhile back that we'd get into the grad transfer market at DT.

This dude's a mature grown man. Might not have the talent of the freshmans we are bringing in, but he's ready to play right now at this level and has been in the mix in P5 football.
Yup, and say what you will about the BIG TEN, they usually produce great talent in the trenches

This guy's been on a **** team for 3 years getting his *** kicked by bigger better teams every week. I'm sure that hardened him a little. He's out there every week getting pounded on by some big bruising OL from Iowa, Ohio Taint, Wisconsin, etc. with no supporting cast around him.

On it's own, I like adding what will probably be solid, experienced depth. That said, taking this guy means we have 1 less scholarship available for the 2018 class.

Transfers will probably still impact this team. Before this transfer, we were bad at DT depth and this allows us to possibly RS one of the incoming freshman.

You are only thinking about the 85 scholarship limit. We've got plenty of room there.

I'm talking about the 25 scholarship per year limit. We don't have plenty of room there and it's impossible to create more room at this point. Taking this kid reduces the number of kids we can sign in the 2018 class.

LOVE the more depth in the trenches philo, but do you think in anyway this means we are covering our bases in case we miss out on 2018 DT targets? I mean, this guy does take up a scholarship right?

Listening to his interview I'm sure that wasn't the only thing pounding on him on a weekly basis.

we've had a ton of attrition... dont think this guy will impact numbers.

He absolutely impacts numbers. He counts against the 25 scholarships limit per year.

You sure?

He isn't. It has no impact on our cycle numbers-wise.

No he doesn’t, he only has an effect on the final 85 scholarship limit. He will not count as a member of the 2018 class. We will likely have at least 5 scholarships available this year even if signing day goes well...

Yes, he does count against the 25. All first-time grants of financial aid count as initial counters, except when giving a scholarship to a walk-on who has been on campus for at least 2 years.

False, go read the NCAA scholarship rules.

Ok, pump the brakes a bit there. Let's not start crowning Illinois and Minnesota yet on the trench level of say Michigan, MSU, PSU, THE Taint, etc...but as a 5th year, at least the guy has a skill set Kool can hopefully work with...

UM

Low 3 star recruit out of ohio with offers from:

Illinois
Northwestern
Cincinnati
Boston College
Bowling Green
Akron

Upgrade over Fines in my opinion. Fits scheme better.

True, but we have 28 available initial counters for 2018, so there's room
