In case you needed another reminder that stars don't mean anything

Film & traits > stars. My Lord this was a bad class.

There are some outliers for sure and they're always going to have to develop at the school they go to. However, since communication, social media, and tech has improved these recruiting sites have gotten better at identifying the superstar players. I believe we're trying too hard to justify striking out at our main targets at QB this recruiting cycle.

Every year someone tries to make this argument. Every year the best teams in college football are the ones with the most 4 and 5 star players.

Alabama just broke Miami’s record for most 1st rounders on a single roster. Georgia just had 15 players drafted in a single draft.

Yeah, ignore stars.

Are recruiting rankings an inexact science? Yes.

Do some lower star kids play 'hit' and play good football? Yes.

Does coaching and player develop matter? Yes.

Is the probability higher that a higher star kid 'hits' & positively contributes to a team, thus the team wins more games, thus a team should want and recruit more higher star kids? Also-yes.

This isn’t hard. I’m making up numbers, but I think this is close to what it looks like

If 30 4* players get drafted a year and there are only 100 4* eligible per year, that’s a 30% rate

If 200 sub 4* players get drafted in a year and there are 3000 sub 3* per year, that’s a 6% rate.

Which one are you putting your money on?

CIS when some posters express tape- or highlight-based concern about a low or unranked recruit we've offered:

- Stars don't matter this time!
- Ed Reed was a 2* recruit 25 years ago
- In [insert coach's name here] we trust, so go f*** yourself
- We only want kids that want to be Canes
- This kid is >>> than the 4* or 5* NIL-seeking future locker room cancer everyone else loves
- We're set at that position for years anyway
- Next year's class is loaded!

Mario is a beast on the trail and we're going to load up on premier, high-ranked talent. There's no need to rehash this ridiculous "stars don't matter" nonsense again, presumably as a result of the apparent recent developments with 2023 QB recruiting and the discussions surrounding Emory Williams.

It’s also not really an example. Cinn. was a cute story until they got on the field with a team loaded with 4* and 5* players. And then the recruiting rankings took over.
Exactly. There's a team in the CFP every year that isn't as talented as the others and they get waxed. Cincy is just another example of that because there's really on 2-3 elite teams every year and those teams are mostly composed of 4 and 5 stars.

The numbers don't lie

That's actually a bad example - that class actually had some pretty good success compared to other years.

So, what we conclude from this is that recruiting is an inexact science? GET OUT!!

Their list:

Undrafted: Trenton Thompson, Martez Ivey, Cece Jefferson, Kevin Tolliver, tavarrus mcfadden, lucifer-south, Kaumatule, George campbell

Drafted: Bryon Cowart, Man Marshall, Derwin James, Khalil McKenzie, Josh Sweat, Malik Jefferson, Josh Rosen, Calvin Ridley, Terry Beckner, Daylon Mack, Deon Cain, Kendall Sheffield

So their attempt to dunk on 5 star recruits - 60% got drafted, 10% went on to make a first or second team all pro list. Please OP run the percentages of any other group's "busts", and then kindly request that the title be updated to "In case you needed another reminder that Goulds is a dummy"
