What are your thoughts on the team's improvement?

I see a lot of fight in these guys, I see a lot of never give up. I like that, I see improvement.

Agreed. After three consecutive losses, the team came out and played well in all phases of the game. It doesn't mean that it was necessarily pretty at times but the team did not go out there and turn the ball over, miss field goals and make a bunch of costly mental errors to beat themselves. This is where VTech usually excells. We beat them at their game with creating takeaways on defense, blocking a punt, and excelling on special teams. This is definitely a sign of improvement with such a young football team.

I hear ya. I was speaking in terms of the whole year.

We have had fight in us in all but two or three games since Golden has been here (BC last year, KSU and ND this year were the games where the team looked like it gave up after falling in a hole). The "fight" is nothing new. Our talent is simply beginning to push out the older kids and gain the experience necessary to utilize that talent. It's beginning to pay off, and for the first time in a long time I think we might actually look better as we approach the end of the season instead of worse.

Virginia Tech was perhaps our most complete game of the season, and as another poster referenced, we won with special teams and by the turnover margin, hallmarks of well coached teams headed in the right direction. I don't care how talent depleted VT is, they will always find a way to beat us if we don't give it our all and we were able to do that this year, despite a 3 game losing streak.

Hate to be the Debbie Downer here, but we just played one of the worst VT teams in a decade. We gave up @ 250 on the ground, had an abysmal 3rd down conversion rate, lost time of possession, and weren't particularly effective on offense. We're not good defensively and are average offensively.

We do this too much. We get hung up on one win or loss. This is a process. We're heading in the right direction or so it seems. We've only completed about 15-20% of the journey.

So are we headed in the right direction? You kinda contradicted yourself in the 1st paragraph.

There is definitely improvement in some phases of the team, especially among individual players on defense. Johnson, GP, DB, EM, TMc, etc.

It's actually refreshing imo; I can see the improvement, rather than read about it (Greentree supa stas).

Like I said this is about improvement throughout the year not just VT. Players are starting to really stand out, not quit. That is what I like to see. It may not be a record thing, it is an improved play thing.

D has improved.

Regarding O the question is has Morris improved?

And can the O improve if the QB is not?

It is diffently possible to win out and go to an acccg. If you would have told me we go 8-4 and go to an acccg I would take that no doubt.

The D has improved, but the O has not. The running game has been mediocre to OK but I would imagine the ground game woulld benefit from a WB who could throw a 5 yr pass. I'm hoping either Olsen takes over or SM improves like JH did from his junior to senior yrs. The drops are mindboggling. Reminds me of all the dropped balls KW had, but he was throwing red-hot missiles. We're really going to miss Mike James next yr.
