Which offensive personal will be toughest to defend and which sets will be toughest matchup for apposing defenses? Two TE with Sandland 6'6 and Walford 6'6 both who can cause all kind of mismatches with Duke in one back and Dorsett and maybe Coley or hopefully Lewis at WR. What damage could you cause and how would you attack the defense? With what should be a very good OL with plenty of experience and a QB who threw for 3,500 yards and who Golden said was one of the hottest QB's in the country at the end of the year why should anybody, not Florida or FSU be able to stop your offense? Do you prefer 4 WR set with Lewis, Dorsett,Coley and Waters with Duke in the backfield? How about you go Tall with Sandland,Walford,Griffen, all 6'6 and 6'4 Jones who could matchup? I could go on and on but you get the gist. No one should stop this offense unless they stop their selves. Thought we could use a little football talk.

That fact that we can play either way is a blessing. It will be really difficult for teams to stop us. If they stack the box, then we exploit it on play-action and hitting the TE's or go deep. If they play back, then we go underneath or just run the **** out of Duke.

This offense should be incredible next year. Even when we line up in a big formation that screams run we'll have the option to do whatever we want with Sandland and Watford at TE. Personally, I'd love to see us change formations quite a bit after seeing what the defense wants to give us. Watford/Sandland/Duke can all play the slot and create huge mismatches on any given play.

The two biggest questions for the offense are:

1) How will Coley do calling plays?
If he's going to make his mark as an OC, this would be an easier year than most to do it. It all starts on the O-line where we look to have probably the best in the ACC both in talent and depth. We all saw how Morris ended the year, hopefully he returns just as good if not better. We are loaded at every skill position minus RB but hopefully someone steps up. We are absolutely loaded at WR and TE looks to be pretty solid as well. The talent and experience will be there for Coley and the offense to be one of the best in the country. If we are not a Top 10 offense, it falls all on Coley's plate.

2) How will players develop, in particular Dorsett and Morris?
We need to see Dorsett get more consistent catching the ball. He started out on fire last year and then hit the wall hard before beginning to pick it up again towards the end of the season. Morris is the bigger question. He was great at times last year but he still left a lot of football on the field. The biggest improvement IMO is him learning to throw with some touch. We all know he can sling the ball all over and into tight windows but the ability to give a WR, in particular, our WRs the ability to gain YAC cannot be understated. We have a bunch of great athletes that will make defenders miss in space, they just need to be afforded the opportunity to do so.

Obviously it depends on the situation and opposing defense. But it's nice we have options.

I like two big WRs (Hurns and Griffin), two TEs (Sandland and Walford), and Duke or Edwards as the one back. Alternatively, drop Walford and go with two backs, using Duke as a receiver out of the backfield.

Agree with you especially about Morris and touch. The next step for Morris is poise and having him healthy for spring will be huge in his development.

How about Duke and Elder on the field to be used in open space with Dorsett Lewis and Hurns in 5 WR set. Really spread the field and create gross mismatches with the speed and quickness.

The way Morris could hit those TEnds down the seams with his strong arm will create havoc for defenses.

Florida with not a lot of WR depth and a QB who runs better than he throws could have a lot of problems scoring with the Canes. They will be breaking in new safeties in their second game. FSU will be breaking in new QB and could also have a problem scoring with this offense.

We will get a taste of who can tote the rock (besides Duke) this spring. When summer /fall practice opens up, we will get a taste of Gus, and see if RLIII or Elder can be a factor out of the backfield. Tons of talent, only one football. I think we will see a lot of 3WR,1TE, 1RB sets with a ton of motion. Keep the opposing safeties guessing.

QB - Morris
OL - Henderson
OL - Linder
OL - McDermott
OL - Feliciano
OL - Flowers
TE - Sandland
RB - Duke Johnson
WR - Philip Dorsett (slot)
WR - Malcolm Lewis
Last WR Spot (open to competition) - Hurns//Coley/Griffin

I think thats getting the most talent on the field right there. The last WR spot is huge, and hopefully all three of those kids are balling out at the time and its a tough decision to make.

Curious as to how the OC s going to be able to keep all these WR's contented with their playing time and touches.

Doesnt look like a challenge to me. Guys have to step up. Lewis and lockhart are coming off serious injuries. Carter and jones are projects. It's basically dorsett, hurns and scott, plus whover steps up from the new guys and injured guys.

Herb Waters played well last year when we had injuries..

True. I overlooked Waters. I'd put him in with Dorsett, Hurns and Scott. One or two other guys will see the field as well. Guessing it's Coley and Lewis.
