If we tackled better we would have a great defense

IMO dnofrio puts these guys in position & makes good calls

It just seems that it takes 2-3 guys to bring down a ball carrier.

Perryman & Figs are the only ones who can solo tackle it seems

More talent is needed. U tough only does so much.

But in 2nd half our tackling improves. Perhaps our guys get into a better groove & get a feel for opponents & play better in 2nd half

Anyone else noticing this?

It's not an absolute though. Our tackling in the UF game was fantastic. Our tackling the past 2 weeks has stunk.

I think it is an intensity/effort and focus thing more than anything else.

I agree. Our players play down to their comp...no doubt. They just aren't as focused in those UNC and Wake games...they definitely came in overconfident. That is sometimes a trait that you can't knock out of kids until they actually experience it themselves. Golden can preach it until they're blue in the face, but to be completely fair, that is the first time our Canes have been in this position in a LONG TIME.

We will be ready and focused on Saturday.

A couple key plays reveal this issue.

Ebron 71 yards for a TD

- What would have been an 15-16 yard gain turned into a 71 yard TD on a missed tackle. Also it did not help that Highsmith ran into Bush.

Gibson 44 yards for a TD

Tackling has gotten worse throughout the season bc of lack of depth. The team looks a little slower out there, lot of these guys in the back 7 not used to playing this much.

I don't think it's because of the lack of depth, but more to do with Morris and the O consistently going 3-and-out. The defense has been holding the fort for the past few weeks now.

I honestly think it has just been a lack of urgency and passion. Not "getting up" for inferior competition.

I feel like there has been a ton of over-pursuit and bad angles. Sometimes it looks like we'd be better off taking a 2-3 yard gain instead of going for the TFL.

They key is playing with the mindset that you want to destroy the ball carrier every play. Don't wait for him to come to you, you run to him and finish the job

I'm not worried about the tackling. Overall, it's been vastly improved, as has the D as a whole.

In the light of where we were last season, and where we are now, the OP is ridiculous.

Guysmns, if our QB made better throws, and our WR guysmsns made better "catches", our offense woudld "be" great gusysms.
