I'm going with the Morris to Coley bomb that was underthrown and picked. If we connect there it's a TD and HUGE momentum shift. Game is tied and who knows after that.
Instead, we get run off the field in the third quarter. We basically lost the game that quarter.
Those are the types of opportunities you can't miss in a game like that. The most frustrating part is that we blew that opportunity on the type of play that suits Stephen's strength (arm strength/deep ball). It felt like one of those Dorsett deep balls that we've hit so many times. I saw Coley out in front and thought we had a big one. Wish Morris would have put more on it with some air and led Coley off to the right (instead of throwing right at him) so it would have been Coley or nobody.
Plus, Morris was having a pretty good game to that point. He connects there and we're feeling really good. Such a shame.
I know it's just one play but man, what a turning point.
And I know it's over, and there were a hundred other problems, but I'm taking the day to be a bit bummed. I just keep seeing that **** play over and over in my head. Huge shift.
Tomorrow I'll have my mind right for VT b/c there's **** sure a lot to play for - really, other than the super rare MNC season, every single thing we've hoped for and wanted to accomplish for **** near 10 years is still on the table after 8 games. I'll take it, no question.
Here's to hoping we can do it for our boy Duke...and that I'll stop seeing Coley streaking downfield wide open every time I think about last night.
...and that we lost the battle but will win the war on December 7th!
