Now see if you had used this as your argument the first time instead of trying to say that Ohio State was in the toilet or that we were somehow a marquee team even though we havent won 10 games in 10 years, had a 3 year NCAA investigation and last won a title 12 years ago when recruits were just out of diapers then we wouldnt be having this conversation.
Then you bring up Big Game Bob Stoops who was gifted a National Title in 2000 by not having to play Miami and then continues to lose pretty much every big game for the last 12 years. We lose every big game now anyways how is that an improvement.
Should we perform better? Yes. Should he fire D? Sure, I can see an argument for that. Will he? Probably not. But firing Golden because we havent had a miraculous turnaround like USC, Alabama, etc I just think that is unrealistic given the circumstances.
