I loved the first half. Glorious drenching rain, particularly late second quarter. The Virginia Tech game was steady but never a downpour. Today was a chance to really get soaked and I took full advantage. No rain jacket, no hat, just perfect.
I was expecting ESPN to run a segment on "Miami Hurricane Single Digit Sections." They had plenty to choose from. At kickoff there was literally nobody in section 418. Adjacent in 419 there were two spectators. Interestingly, by mid 4th quarter it had exactly reversed, although I wasn't sure if the same two people had merely relocated. I was on the opposite side of the stadium. Section 409 was also single digits, albeit barely. Those are full sections, no tarps. Several sections with tarps had single digit spectators below the tarps but that doesn't qualify.
Our defense was pathetic but I never really fretted the outcome. Sure, there was a route for Virginia down 14-13 and driving late second quarter, but they had already dropped several passes and seemed determined to donate. When Gunter intercepted that dropped deflection, my biggest chore was raising the extra 50 pounds of water weight to stand up and cheer the runback.
Next year they need to get rid of that asinine "Dance for your Dinner" segment. Nobody cares other than to boo the low energy worst. That makes it a misleading outcome because they base the winner on pure volume level and the boos blend with the cheers.
How is the Bacardi promotion a seat upgrade when they stick you at field level? Besides, Bacardi should be rejected as a University of Miami sponsor after their atrocity at Calusa Country Club. I heckle Bacardi at every game.
Why do the Hooters Girls get 15 seconds? Give them bazookas and let them fire the T shirts all game long, including to me, low upper deck.
