Hey, what's Clint Hurtt's status with the NCAA? Is Nevin's boy allowed to roam and coach on the sidelines? Will we see his mug Saturday in Orlando? Probably no one played a larger role in the Nevin fiasco than this character - then resurfaces to recruit against us in South Florida. By all accounts he pretty much skated, right?

He got a show cause, but I guess it doesn't matter in Loserville. If he shows up down here recruiting, we need CG police to go old school on him and feed the crabs.

The recruiting pipeline to South Florida will remain open for the Louisville football program after all.
In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, UofL athletic director Tom Jurich confirmed that Clint Hurtt will remain on Charlie Strong‘s coaching staff. In the NCAA Committee on Infractions report released earlier today, Hurtt was slapped with a two-year show-cause based on his involvement in the Nevin Shapiro scandal while serving as a Hurricanes assistant.
It was claimed in the Notice of Allegations sent to the coach earlier this year that Shapiro provided Hurtt with over $7,000 in “impermissible supplemental income.” The COI in its report released today further claimed that Hurtt and another former Miami assistant, Aubrey Hill, “provided prospects with free lodging, meals and transportation.”
What was thought to be the most damning accusation against Hurtt was the coach “provided false or misleading information to Miami and the [NCAA] enforcement staff during the investigation.” Jurich stated today that, “[t]o the best of his recollection, he was open and honest to everyone involved.”
“I believe he recently has acted appropriately in his activities involving Louisville’s football program,” Jurich said, adding that the COI “accepted the significant penalties placed upon Clint by me” and “Clint has worked with us diligently to make this happen.”
Among the punitive measures enacted by Jurich included Hurtt’s salary being frozen through May of 2015, suspension of all applicable performance bonuses and a zero-tolerance policy on NCAA violations, including secondary ones, moving forward.
Part of that zero-tolerance policy will include Hurtt being “closely monitored,” Jurich said.
Regardless of the stipulations on Hurtt’s retention, and as long as there are no punitive measures related to recruiting, it’s a huge win for Strong, who Jurich said did not play a role in the decision.
In addition to his titles of associate head coach and defensive line coach, Hurtt serves as the Cardinals’ recruiting coordinator. Hurtt has extensive ties to the talent-rich recruiting fields in the state of Florida and has used those connections — see: Bridgewater, Teddy — to help Strong raise the UofL’s national profile in the sport

Cards have 8 florida recruit commitments this year, 6 from north of Lakeland. Two from south Florida, M. Johnson and Rushing from Gibbons. Looks like putting restraints on Hurtt has made a difference. All this talk about the Cards great recruiting in South Florida has been nipped in the bud. Teddy had a big impact on South Florida recruits and a flock followed him but that ship is fixing to sail. Now what the Cards will continue to do is bring in Felons who have been let go for their crimes by Universities and rewarded with playing time at schools with no scruples like Louisville. Players like W. Williams, Dyer the other LB from Miami who was arrested for armed robbery.
