Coming off of a big win against #13 Michigan State, the Hurricanes traveled up to Massachusets to play UMASS. UMASS was 3-2 coming in to the game with losses to NCST and Tennessee. The Hurricanes were 4-1 with a loss to FGCU.

Final Score - 75-62

Top players for Miami

Reggie Johnson chipped in 19 points, 13 rebounds, an assist, and 6 blocks.

Durand Scott had 15 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists

Shane Larkin had 14 with 2 steals.

Kenny Kadji was quite most of the game but hit a couple of very clutch 3's to seal the game up for his. He had 13 points.

For UMASS, T. Vinson had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Miami is 4-0 all time vs UMASS

The Canes will have 13 days off to prepare for Charlotte. The game will be played at the Bank United Center in Miami with a 7pm est tip-off. Charlotte is 6-0 and this will not be an easy game for the Canes, but very winnable if we play the way we have been playing the past few games.

score doesnt even indicate the game. It was actually a very exciting and close game up until about 5 minutes left when we pulled away. At one point, they hit a 3 to tie, we hit a 3 to answer, they hit a 3 to tie it back up, and then Durand Scott took over.

Reggie was a man-beast, especially in the first half. Im still a little worried about his conditioning because he looked very sluggish after just a few minutes of play.

We ended the game on a 24-10 run after they went up 52-51 with about 8 minutes left. UMass takes more 3s than a Frank Haith coached team. Good G-d, they were trying to set some sort of record out there today.

As for Charlotte, they are 7-0, but sometimes records can be deceiving. They have beaten Charleston Southern, Georgia Southern, Lamar, Texas State, Oral Roberts, Northeastern and East Carolina. Any team with a pulse would be 7-0 playing that schedule (and 6 of those games were at home). We beat them by 15 in Charlotte last year, and should beat them by 10+ at home this year. The UMass game was the "trap game," and we got past that, so I'm pretty confident we beat Charlotte fairly easily.

they were god awful from beyond the arch. dont have the stat in front of me but they were something like 6 of 38 from 3.

Was at the game and it certainly was not as easy as the score says. As someone stated earlier we pulled away late. Overall our defense was very solid, their best player Chaz Williams was HOUNDED by Larkin/Scott all game. Very impressed with Larkin.

Nice writeup P, thanks.

It was cold and disgusting in Amherst but glad we got the W. The refs were bad (all around) and the fans were dumber then ours.

Reggie looked great out there.

Rough first couple minutes finding themselves clanking shots. Once again, they kept up the effort all game long and never even paused once being aggressive on D or O. Foot on the gas, & poised in doing so (not rabid or out of control). Hope this killer instinct maintains on this team. Really nice couple wins.
