Princeton (NJ) Hun School two-way lineman Hunter Knighton announced today that he has cut his list of 13 offers down to five. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder names Purdue, Boston College, Miami, South Florida and Navy his leading schools in no particular order.

USF – “I visited USF a few days before Miami camp and have been keeping in good contact with coach Hargreaves,” Knighton said. “Coach Shank tells me that I’m a key guy in their recruiting which is good. Just being important to him I want to get down there again.”

The Bulls haven’t led on to which position they’re recruiting Knighton at on the offensive line, but they’re believed to be looking at him to play left tackle.

Miami – Hurricanes offensive line coach Art Kehoe visited Knighton in New Jersey and did something a little different.

“They didn’t offer right away like every other school,” Knighton explained. “He wanted me to go to camp and I after I performed he said I had an offer from them. Through the whole process they were really honest.”

Knighton’s family followed head coach Al Golden quite a bit during his time at Temple and like how the New Jersey-native coaches. Knighton says that the Hurricanes are hinting that they want him to play right tackle on the offensive front.

Purdue – “I visited in May. I really like coach [Danny] Hope. He says I’m a key guy for them and that I have a spot until National Signing Day,” he said.

The Boilermakers are a wildcard. They are the only school recruiting Knighton strictly as a defensive tackle, which could play a key role in his decision as he has cited his intensity and desire to play on the defensive side of the ball.

Navy – “I went to spring game and really liked the campus. I like my recruiting coach and the school in general,” Knighton said.” The opportunity to serve and have a job set up, I would be looking forward to that. I get excited about that, it’s a great opportunity.”

The Midshipmen will work Knighton both offensively and defensively and allow him to see where he fits best.

Boston College – “I went up to their spring game. Coach Bollman has a great resume as an offensive line coach,” he said.

The education at Boston College has attracted Knighton to the Eagles. A former teammate of his, David Dudeck, is a freshman at Boston College this year as well and Knighton says it would be great to go to a school where he knew people on the team prior to enrolling.

The Eagles are recruiting Knighton to play anywhere on the offensive line, but he feels he would fit best in the interior, at guard.

“Right now I’m scheduling officials to Boston College in early September and Miami. I plan on seeing the rest of the schools I want to see in November,” Knighton said.

The Hun School rising-senior will likely make a decision after he takes his official visits and says he won’t wait until National Signing Day.

As for his senior year, Knighton’s goals are simple.

“I just want to get bigger, faster and stronger every day. This year I want to lead my team to a championship.”

Seems like a BC/U battle but we are definitely in it. Wonder if a road beat down would help him decide?
