Obviously, we want to keep our winning streak going and chalk up a win on Sunday. Not to be overlooked, however, are Saturday's games, which could have a huge affect on the ACC standings going into the final third of the schedule. UVA and L-Ville both play on the road against Duke and Notre Dame, respectively. If the road teams win, they (along with UNC) will clearly separate themselves as the elite teams in the conference -- having a two game lead AND head-to-head tiebreakers over Duke and ND. If we win, we put ourselves in the elite group -- if we lose, we will be a step below the top 3.

However, if Duke and ND both win at home, it sets up a dogfight among 6 teams for the regular season crown and the top 4 seeds in the ACC tourney -- although L-Ville is excluded. (Pitino is no doubt motivating his team with the allure of winning the regular season ACC title.)

Not to be overlooked is the Pitt - UNC game on Sunday afternoon. If Pitt somehow pulls the upset (and UNC is far from dominant these days), we could have six teams within a game of 1st place, with Syracuse, Pitt and Clemson still very much alive! (Clemson has a very favorable schedule to close out conference play -- with 2 games against BC, 2 against GT, and 1 against NC State.)

Should be an interesting weekend.

Go Canes!
