They haven't even played a game and i already miss dude. Crawford,OT,Gus will all get the carries now but yov can't replace duke. Morris will have to make plays and make good decisions. With our next 4 games vt,duke, uva, pitt the o-line should be able to take over.

Morris Waters and Coley have to step up. I think these are the most dynamic players left. I would love to see 4 games with these guys each getting 8-10 catches. I think that Crawford,Clement and Edwards can be a serviceable unit. I don't see a home run hitter in that bunch until proven otherwise. Even though I think Clements will step up and finish his Hurricane career strong.

In trouble for sure.
My hope is that Gus the Bus shows up. He has the ability to - just hope he's right upstairs.

When you're asking a true sophomore and a true freshman to step up that's when we know we have some depth issues. Morris needs to step up along with the OLine not those WRs.

poor. I made a thread a couple weeks ago that looked at what Morris has done when Duke has been shut down or out and with the exception of ncstate last year it was not pretty.

I think we win because of who we play but they will all be nailbiters.

If they are all nailbiters, we will lose a game or two. You can't rely on squeeking it out at the end week after week. Sooner or later you'll get a bad break, or have a turnover, or bad execution or whatever and we'll drop one.

Exactly and thats why you see the dumpster fire above that statement.

Can you link that tread I would love to see the numbers. I was just looking at some stats myself and saw that last year Morris completed 58% of his passes healthy, this year he is at 59% so basically that's who is he going to be.

We expected way too much from Morris based on some numbers that were not rightfully skewed in his favor from last year.

e lose the homerun ability without duke and Phillip. However, I still think our offense can move the ball without him due to our OLine.

Look at the UNC game.

That will be the attempt, but sadly. UNC defense isn't on our schedule the remainder of the season. UNC rush defense has been horrible. In 8 games, 6 opponents have rushed for more than 200 yards on them. They only held a team to less than 150 once, and that was VT anemic offense with 48 yards on the ground.

I know people got excited with what they saw from Crawford, but the success he has had this year. Was all vs horrific teams vs the rush.

Morris going to have to step his game up the remainder of the season, and hopefully the ground attack can do enough to get us by.

I agree but we will have to overcome this feedback (the other team stopping the run or forcing Morris to throw).

I think this weekend is an incredible test for our offense (namely our OL) and it is unfortunate that it occurs the first game after we lose Duke Johnson. The good news is our OL is healthy.

The only two things I will say about the UNC game is that they knew we could ONLY RUN THE BALL. They knew we were running it almost every play but they couldn't stop it at all. I know they suck at run D but if I tell you we're going to run, you will load up to stop the run. It didn't matter, we overcame in that situation.

The other thing is we lost Duke in the beginning of the UNC game. We did not prepare for life without Duke, we altered our game plan (temporarily we threw it more and then focused on the run) in the middle of the game. We now know Duke is gone and we can at least prepare for the week (season) for life without Duke.

Morris will have to step up. He cannot average 2 interceptions per game during ACC play.

There have been plenty of times over the last decade. We have been in games that we too. Knew the other team was just going to run at us to get out with a W, and we got ran over as well. Also, even as erratic as Morris is. He still is a major threat to bust that *** over the top. So teams still have to respect that. UNC game plan for us the past 2 season, has been keep everything in front of them. Doing so keeps Morris at bay, because he lacks the brain power to nickle and dime. It almost worked again.

I think Rashawn Scott's absence affected SM17 as much (if not more) than his ankle. If you look at last year, Scott was his de factor possession receiver. I would love to see more high % throws and some more FB play (3-5 carries, 1-2 passes). Need to do something about time of possession and hope we can continue creating turnovers.

Correct.

That is the thing, I don't care what happened in the past this season during ACC play with Morris. There are 4 games left, he will need to lead and overcome the other 4 ACC games. We all know he has the tools to do big things for us at QB. We all know about the arm and the deep ball but when it counts, when we need him most, can he step up.

Here is what we face

VT
Scoring D: 9th with 16.9 PPG
Passing D: 1st with 150.6 YPG

@ Duke

Scoring D: 36th with 22.5 PPG
Passing D: 36th with 216 YPG

UVA

Scoring D: 97th with 32.6 PPG
Passing D: 74th with 236.6 YPG

@ Pitt

Scoring D: 67th with 26.8 PPG
Passing D: 18th with 202.0 YPG

Teams will try to keep everything in front of them against us going forward, agreed. We must hit them deep, we must be able to take advantage of these opportunities even without Dorsett. Even if we have to nickle and dime, just don't throw INTs.

No Duke means that Morris' role will be amplified. (which I fear means his awful play will be amplified)
