How much would you pay Hester?

What's the going rate for return guys leaving their prime?

This. I love him, but there isn't a need for a guy who can be replaced by any rookie in the ncaa with sub 4.3 40. He isn't Deion who can just ball at any position. If he gets paid more than 3 million a year he got a good deal.

he's perfect for a about to make it team
Dallas, Giants, Zona, SF, Jets, Miami
you get the point
someone is well below cap, and has ambitions on playoffs and more
he changes fields and approaches of your opponent
he can do it for 3 more years, and succeed
anyone who thinks otherwise will regret not signing him
San Diego would be a perfect scenario
they are talking Golden Tate - well pay Devin to play 4th WO and KO/PR
doh

Kickoff from the 35 has cut down on returns, so you'll pretty much be over paying a veteran punt returner . He's not a good wr, average at best. Id much rather have Tate.

It would be smarter to either draft a young return guy,or young FA that can actually play slot .

I'd maybe give him a two year deal and three million total.

He got screwed over cuz of the new kickoff rules, I wouldn't pay him much he's average at best as a WR.

in todays game he's prbly only worth maybe a couple mil.

would love to see him in a cowboys uni but we have zero cap space for "luxuries" this off season

agree the money will be nominal
but the punt returns and kickoff returns are still a game changer
2013 31 CHI 23 16 0 18 256 1 81 14.2 52 1436 0 80 27.6 1692
he's a fourth, maybe 3rd if you have a top flight TE - WR
pay him as such,
but he can still move the field
this KR stat was 45th best ever, even with the stupid new rules
and 46th seasonally with punt and kick

he's got value

Deion Sanders always said Devin had real potential at corner. I wouldn't mind seeing him give the Sam Shields route a try, but it's probably too late. 1 year, 2 million for 3 return TD's.

Hester can still run when i seen him last year he aint that old and there aint a lot of miles on him because he doesnt play offense or defense.

No longer has that same burst, that is just the stone cold truth. He can still cut on a dime, but the burst is mostly gone and the top end speed has also slipped. He is still good for a return here and there, but he needs the blocks, where in the past he was able to make something from nothing. There is one kickoff I remember this year where I thought he was gone, and he just straight up didnt make it through the hole. He made the right read and made a nasty cut but just didnt have it to get through. He would have been off to the races. He isnt gonna get much, at least he got the deal he did with the Bears years ago.

Hester to the Buccaneers, Lovie Smith is their HC. I say 3 years 9 mil...

1 yr at the veteran minimum and all the Big Cheese gift certificates he wants. It's really a shame that he was never able to translate as a WR though. Dude was an enigma. Has the fattest face for a guy with blazing speed that I've ever seen.

Everyone tried to make him more than he was. Dude was the GOAT returner. Bears should have never tried to increase his role. He would have been more valuable to them if he continued to master his trait and would have obliterated every return record in NFL history.
