How many more can we take in '18?

For the '18 class, how many can we take? I believe the early enrollies from this year count against last year? Please comment.

This should go in the recruiting thread.

we have 17 Commits in the 2018 class thus far.
I've been saying we finish with 26 or 27.
I've broken it down before, but I don't think more than 10 EE's can count for the previous class. But the 2018 class isn't going to be limited by the 25 class limit, it'll be limited by the 85 roster limit. We Need like 12 guys to leave to get to 27....I think it'll happen. But if we get like 30 in the 2018 class, we can get like a max of 10 in 2019....which is why I think we finish with closer to 25 than 30.

Add:

WR - Xavier Williams. - Not sure if we end up getting him. Theres that 5* kid from Louisianna thats a long shot. Then there Austin, Warren Thompson, etc. And I'd rather have Schwartz over Elijah Moore also. Moore needs to have a great senior season to be a take over other guys imo.
OL - Curtis Dunlap and John Campbell
DL - Jamarcus Chatman, and another player or two. Whoever the **** Kool wants im cool with. He's definitely targetin elite guys like Parsons and Vincent.
LB - Rosendo Lewis and David Reese. Think we might only take 2 LBs but if we go for 3 Gainer > Sherwood/Abdullah.
DB - Tyson Campbell and Al Blades.
and probably need a kicker. unless we go with a grad transfer or something.

and if Sitkowski decommits, go after Casey Thompson.

Agree with 26-27. Since we've been under 25 for the last 3 years, I'm guessing we likely have 3-5 EE spots. 10 EE spots would mean Golden and Co would have filed everything correctly, doubt that happened. Plus, transfers are counters too.

If the max possible were applied to previous classes, we'd have like a max of 11 total EE's that can be applied to the previous class. But all that is neccessary is 5 or less anyway. Signing a class of 30 would be terrible for next yr. And as it stands we won't need to apply any of the 2019 class to 2018 or anything because theres no way in **** we get to the 25 limit for the 2019 class.

And just so OP doesn't get confused, just because only 11 can be applied to the previous year, doesn't mean we can't have as many EE's as possible.

You can't apply the max possible to the previous classes. Transfers and walk-ons given ships are counters, too. If you are just using the max from previous classes, it would be 12 as '16 had 5 EEs with 19 kids (25-14=11 + 25-24=1) and '17 has 24 kids. Now we can remove spots for Colbert, Williams, Brown (LSU), and Delenay to get to 8. Pretty sure we gave a walk-on a ship here or there even for one year. I also don't think it safe to assume we can use the MAX possible simply because transfers and walk-ons weren't factored into the 11 spots for '16.

You are 100% correct that EEs can count toward either year so everyone in a class can technically be an EE. It is preferred for a class to have lots of EEs so we can address any spots in the last 5 weeks IF someone flakes on their EE commitment.

Last important details, kids like Griffin who sign but don't qualify aren't counted. Kids like Sam Bruce who qualify but don't play do count. Even Kiy Hester (signed, qualified, never came) counts and transferred to Rutgers.
