We got beat by 10+ runs... if Jim Morris had any impact on that loss it was small. No amount of good coaching would have undid the *** whooping we incurred. Also, Morris doesn't need a pass, we are in the College World Series currently. That would be like firing Coach L for losing in the elite 8 of the NCAA Tourny.

Dude, sorry to burst your bubble, wouldn't matter if Earl Weaver, Billy Martin and Tony LaRussa were sitting in the dugout.

Yes, Morris really should be fired for the terrible pitching he did as he snuck out there dressed up as Suarez and the relievers.

So Morris isn't to be blamed for having a mediocre ace and a bunch of hitters who have terrible approaches against good pitchers. Got it.

As much as I hate to whine in Omaha, that was a putrid performance for sure. Why is it Miami can never seem to ever have a dominant pitching performance.

I had friends over for the game and one guy say's "this is Miami's ace?", granted he had virtually no defensive support, but ouch...

It's difficult to get defensive support when you constantly walk the leadoff guy and your pitches are so fat that Florida's lineup can get the barrel to any pitch they want. Suarez doesn't have great stuff, and more importantly, he doesn't have the bulldog mentality to fight out of jams. I think J.D. has done a great job of putting together a quality staff that wins regular season games with an impressive ERA, but the type of kid we bring in to pitch here will not do well on this stage at this point in the season.

Not bailing out Lopez here, but there were a LOT of UF baserunners who didn't get on by errors.

Mediocre 2nd round draft pick? And as the stats say, most prolific offense in college baseball?

Absolutely mediocre. San Francisco drafted a lefty who throws in the low 90's. That's rare, so they pounced. They did not draft a polished pitcher. SF believes they can fix all of the problems that Suarez showed on Saturday. Kids like that get drafted high all the time. Doesn't mean they belong in the College World Series.

As far as the offense, we've said this for a few weeks now, but that "most prolific offense" crushed the Georgia Techs and New York Techs of the world. Go back and look at our scoring totals in those series we lost against quality teams. You can't act surprised that Florida shut us down.

I'm not sure you can really call Suarez mediocre. He's been picked in the 2nd round of the MLB draft in two in seasons, and has had two great years. I also don't know how you can call a team that has powered there way to the college world series mediocre. It's not like they got no-hit or anything. Baseball is just a funny game and they had an off day against arguably the hottest team in college baseball right now.

An off day.

Is there some kind of Jim Morris apologist handbook that tells you guys to just claim that it was one bad game? No matter how many bad games we play?

Out scored Florida 11-6 in reg. season, tied Louisville in scoring at 19, out scored FSU 24-23. That is some top of the line pitching, backed up by statistics.

If that was the case and played so many garbage teams we wouldnt end season as #2 RPI.

Who said we played so many garbage teams? Don't make stuff up. We obliterated poor and average teams and couldn't do it against our four toughest opponents.

So you know what would be awesome. We beat Arkansas. UVA beats Florida. Then we could eliminate Florida.

I'd like those odds better than beating UF twice in a row.

**wrong thread.

I wouldn't say Suarez has had 2 "great years". He has been pretty underwhelming for his draft status. He has never been dominant against good teams and and was the starter and responsible for the 2 blowouts against our biggest rivals. He has been solid, but not anywhere near top aces around the country.
