How is Duke's recovery going?

correct me if I am wrong but at this point nobody can tell.. once he starts to practice that is when it will be clear how he will recover.

If I remember correctly he said he wouldn't be ready for Spring, but that doesn't mean anything. I'm not a Doctor but I don't think his break was to severe. Should be as good as new come September.

It was said at the time that it was a simple fracture, much less serious than the injury that Lewis had the year before. He did have surgery on it about three days after teh injury, so I'd suspect it was a type A or B fibula fracture because it was reported it was only a fibula fracture. That means the fracture line was down at the far end of the bone into the ankle joint. A C fracture is above the malleolus, the bump on the ankle, and usually does not require surgery. With any fracture that requires surgery the recovery time is a bit longer but I haven't read anything to make me think he would not be 100% by summer. I did see him from about ten feet away at the bowl game and he was walking with no noticeable limp. He did appear to still have a boot on his right foot.

We couldn't do **** without him. Anybody who isn't concerned is crazy. Should be good to go come fall but it's definitely a concern

I didn't speak to him, but I saw him walking around fine at the SFE event last weekend. No boot, no crutches.

Time I saw him before that he was toting his scooter around.

There's no such thing as a "minor" surgery, practically speaking. That being said, fib fractures typically aren't career or ability threatening in most cases. I'd be surprised if he went full go in the spring simply because he's proven and our other backs need more reps. Without knowing much about the injury, I'd imagine he'll be cleared fully for summer workouts and be solid by camp.

I haven't a clue to what you just said, but am very grateful to have posters here who are knowledgeable about medicine. Thank you!

Overall this sounds encouraging. Hope he's 100% for spring with no lingering effects it from long term.

Very concerned. He got beat up every game (I think WF was the only game he didn't come out of early), and we don't have any A level RBs without him.

With yearby hurt (no idea how his recovery will go) and the Golden's recruiting whiff on the rest of the prime time RBs, we could be in big trouble early.

before Duke got hurt we all noticed that Coley used him too much for our liking. Hopefully DC/Yearby/Gus can take some of the carries so Duke can remain explosive

He used him too much because without him, we couldn't get one yard if we needed it, after that UNC game.

DC and Gus were good for 2 yard losses every run after Duke went out.

We NEEDED Powell, if not absolutely needed Cook.

We are a 4th-6th place Coastal team without Duke.

I can't believe Duke only had 4 catches in 8 games!!!!]

Thats just flat out criminal.

I understand he has shown inconsistent hands at times on designed screens when split out wide, thats more an issue of focus as we saw with Coley because Duke can catch very well. But getting him out in space, or on check downs is something that would help this offense so much. Yet we have him trying to cut block ******* DEs on passing plays.

Not happy with the use of Duke this past year.
