for those in the know, school me on the difference between them and who's a better LB prospect for us! I could swear way back when we were first recruiting hood, he was labeled the best LB in SoFla, but then once he committed to Michigan, we basically forgot about him...

Hood if you want a for sure thing.

Chase if you want to base off potential.

Not saying hood can't get better because he definitely can. He's just more Polished and ready to contribute at the moment.

Both are talented.

Gun to my head I'm taking Hood.

Chase Smith is a much better athlete and he already produces at multiple positions. He´s not all upside, but his upside is bigger than Hood´s. That being said, tough choice to make because Hood, although he is a LB only and doesn´t appear to be an elite athlete, does what he´s asked to do very well.

Both are good af, Hood is more polished rn, but Chase upside and potential is very high. Hodd potential is high 2 but Chase is definitely the better athlete. With that being said better athlete does not equal better football player. I would take Chase cause I'm a sucker for speed.

Not that any of you are wrong, but sometimes taking the better athlete isn’t necessary the best option. I think both will be studs though.

Hood may not look super fast but his closing speed is all there. I love the way he runs through tackles also. I'll give the slight nod to Hood.

Chase is criminally underrated according to his 247 ranking. He’s a Swiss Army knife and a must get. Hood is a take and a good player, but I wouldn’t say he’s a must have.

Speaking only as a LB...
Hood almost certainly has the lower floor based on his production, instincts for the position, and polish playing the position.
Chase probably has the higher ceiling based on his crazy athletic profile and the fact he has more room to grow technically (because he's asked to do so much at other positions on the field).
But people sleep on Hood's athleticism and forget he also ran track and was a state qualifier as a wrestler. Wrestling for LBs is a great second sport.

Pretty close call IMO, but if we are talking strictly as a LB prospect, I give the edge to Hood. Chase's versatility probably makes him the better overall prospect, though.
