What are the honest issues of running a 3-4 and a 4-3 interchangeably, but with Wyche at NT, Chickillo and Pierre switching in and out at DT, Kamalu at true end, McCord at rush end sliding back to Jack in the 3-4, Kirby playing Will and Weak ILB in 3-4, Perryman playing Mike and Strong ILB in 3-4, Figueroa playing Sam and Strong OLB in 3-4, but the snake of interlocking, interchangeable pieces continues, at this stage what about rovers and nickelbacks for 4-2-5's and 3-3-5's, I see Dallas Crawford as an excellent Nickel playing outside boundary who also deserves time at Strong, laying the wood in the box and defending passes (23 INT's in HS), plus Gayot could get time, sliding from Will and WOLB to Strong Safety, plus Darrion Owens could play from Free Safety to Defensive End. We have versatile pieces! Jermaine Grace could go from speedy OLB to Rover type rolling deep in coverage for picks. The true DB's, the CB's will be Howard and Gunter with Burns being first off the bench and hopefully getting some play at Safety as well. Then Rayshawn Jenkins I think earned a spot to start and Bush and Carter can share time at Strong. Kiy Hester getting in at both I hope.
But what are the issues? Other than a few tweeks in certain players amongst the fan base, because not everybody can agree obviously, why don't we just play this? We have the athletes, we don't have to necessarily play to Dorito's bvllsh!t scheme. Chickillo sliding inside because of the weight too unreasonable? Kamalu showing out as a true end not possible? Wyche not being a best and leading the charge? Disagree on a rush specialist DE (McCord, AQM, Trent, etc)? Think no LB's other than Perryman step the fvck up? Still think the secondary's play is gonna be way too sloppy for the talent back there? What are my fellow fan's hesitations in going all in and believing this team can make something of this season this year with a solid defense and man-to-man aggression at every level, Hurricane Heart if you will. The defense could be solid with these players and with like 4 QB's, money at wideout and solid stable of RB's with a good line as always and potential breakout TE's and the return specialists (Coley, Burns, Duke occasionally), we could be a money team! We could beat the coastal, VT, UNC, NC State, Pitt, BC, Duke, Wake, Syracuse, and I even believe this team playing well further into the season could give FSU a run for their money, and I **** sure believe we can figure **** out opening night against L'Ville. We're a different team now. And so are they.
