- We need help at RB...go after Drew Harris NOW. He's prepping at Fork Union this year, and has been a VT commit since late September 2011. However, we were in his final group of schools that he chose from, and were in it til the end with him. Re-visit the possibility of him being the replacement for Mike James, and sell how he could mix with Duke Johnson right away as a lightning/thunder combination. Sit him down on the phone with Jawand Blue and Robert Lockhart--see if they can sell him on Miami over VT, since that was the main choice they both made last year.
- I think we ought to go after Avery Johnson too. He's prepping at Hargrave, and is still an LSU commit. There was all of that buzz earlier this year with him switching his commitment from LSU to us if he could have gotten in this Fall at Miami...but nothing ever came of it. I think it'd be at least worth a try. Sell him on combining with AJL as an elite WR tandem with Kevin Olsen throwing to him for the next few years--see if he likes it, if the grades are now up to snuff enough for him to get into UM, of course.
- Dontrill Hyman might be worth a look at DE. He committed in the 2012 class to East Carolina and was a 2* kid on most services, but as a JUCO at Hinds CC in Mississippi, he's become more of a commodity as a 6'4/265 Strongside DE prospect. He's originally from North Carolina, so poaching him from ECU might not be easy--but as bad as we're in need of DE's, it's worth a phone call.
- Same story for Marcus Hardison. He's at Dodge City CC (Kansas), and the JUCO ranks there are normally really good and fertile with talent (see Kansas State's current roster for proof). He's uncommitted at the moment, and is a 6'5/295 DT/DE prospect. Arizona State is currently the front-runner for his services. Not to be redundant, but he's worth a phone call too.
Nothing concrete here folks, just some ideas. I'm tossing names out there, and grades for these kids are always an issue, especially when it comes to qualifying at UM. If Pete/Tito/Cameron/D$ have anything to chime in with, feel free.
