A lot of people saw him play in scrimmages alongside Denzel, Gaines, Johnson, Paul, Armbrister, Cornileus, etc., so it's not extremely radical to gauge his athleticism and knack for making plays in comparison to those guys, even if it's a small sample size. It's possible he could be great in scrimmages and average/horrible in games, sure, but there's reason for excitement.

Golden also mentioned him by a name a few times in Fall practice as a guy who was playing really well.

I doubt Kirby is going to be able to jump right into his first college game against Notre Dame on primetime and play really well. If he had been in right from the BC game, we would be able to see where his progress is just like we have seen with Deon Bush and others. I hope I am wrong.
