Don Bosco Prep's Darius Hamilton is The Star-Ledger's No. 2 ranked recruit in his class.*
Rutgers has hired Kyle Flood as its new coach, a popular choice among the state's high school coaches. But what will the hire mean for the most notable recruit Greg Schiano was chasing after before he left, Don Bosco Prep's Darius Hamilton?*

A consensus top recruit in the nation, and The Star-Ledger's No. 2 ranked player in his class, Hamilton will make his decision Tuesday night. He went on an official visit to Miami this past weekend. He will choose between Miami and Rutgers.*

Before Schiano left to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Hamilton was leaning towards towards selecting Rutgers, his coach, Greg Toal, said last week. But once Schiano exited to the NFL, uncertainty set in.*

National Signing Day is Wednesday, when high school seniors will sign a Letter of Intent with the college of their choice.*

I don't know what to make of the Hamilton decision - but at least we don't have to wait until Wednesday to find out.

I'm thinking he stays home too, but it's **** impressive that AG got a visit out of him so quickly. If he can garner attention from top level recruits coming off a 6-6 season with sanctions hanging over the program, just imagine who he'll start pulling once he starts winning some games here

i must have spent to much time in the WEZ yesterday and missed something but Kyle Flood is the new HC and not Mario?

It was in the WEZ too sucka. Mario denied the offer, so Rutgers promoted Kyle Flood (OL coach) to Head Coach.

Yea, couldn't agree on terms with Mario and were **** bent on having a coach prior to signing day, so Flood is the man. Could backfire huge if they choose the class over the right hire.

I read somewhere asking if they should have rushed the hire to just save this recruiting class? I mean it is a very good recruiting class, however if Flood doesn't work out it could really hurt them.

My father has been a Rutgers Season ticket holder for 20 years and said when Flood was given the role of Co-Offensive Coordinator duties they really struggled. Their O-line wasn't very good that year but take it as you may.

The most significant thing about this is the fact that UF has been recruiting Hamilton forever, and Golden just swoops in at the last minute and convinces him that Miami is a better option than the gatuh. This is a sign of things to come when its Golden vs Muschamp....Al is owning right now.

The Had to Hire Flood. No Choice after Mario. Purely a stop Gap for the Class they are bringing in . However, they will lose about 3-4 (in fact I think one already has) but adding Hamilton will be huge.

If Flood Hires the Right DC and keeps Cignetti - they could have another year and maybe better.

Yea but a good head coach hire is more important than any one recruiting class. It doesn't matter the players you bring in if the HC is incompetent or ineffectual, we know that first hand. If you hire the "right" guy he will make up for the missed class over the next 2-3 years. I missed class sets you back 1-2 years a missed coach sets you back 5-6 years. Also, not that impressed with Cigneti, was never a great OC at Pitt and didn't impress last season at RU.

Agreed. Have success on the football field recruits will want to come play for you. We have seen this at Miami.
