I like the Gus-Bus a lot. He is our only prototypical Bruising back...But I still like the combination of Crawford/Clements ahead of him for now. Even though Crawford is not a big-back in terms of stature, he runs very tough and is developing a nose for the endzone once we get close. He is slowly becoming a Marion Barber back imo. Gus will get his touches, it is a long season and he is 1 ding/nick away from seeing an increased work load. I like how the coaches are keeping him fresh and injury free so that he can finish games late in the year when we need a 4-6 minute drive to seal the victory. The games are going to get alot more physical coming up as we get into conference play so for a freshman it's important that they ease him in.

All three are capable backups thank god, at least we have someone when duke is out

I agree w/ ur point b/c Eduardo and Crawford are very good running backs to have on the team as well but you are WAY OFF in comparing Dallas Crawford to Marion Barber..... Dallas Crawford isnt a power type back at all, he is a all purpose back like Duke Johnson.

Regardless.... I just want the coaching staff to limit Duke Johnson's carries so Crawford, Clements, and Gus all can get the opportunity to see meaningful playing time on the field. Mainly b/c Duke Johnson is more effective at this point in his development w/ the same amount of carriers he averaged last year and the team can have a more balanced running attack w/ Eduardo and Gus getting more carries.

Gus just looks like a better runner than the other two guys. Golden has said all along that he needed a power back to emerge and Gus is the guy.

Gus is more explosive. Like the way he hits the hole. Dallas is serviceable but he isn't a RB, IMO. He is an athlete who doesn't really have a position. Clements is a great kid and I am happy to see him back out there but he isn't what I would want my #2 RB to look like. On the slow side, seems to just run into people rather than trying to avoid tacklers. He is a good third down guy because he is block and on 3rd and short he can get you a first down.

Gus Edwards has the most potential b/c of how naturally gifted he is but i still like what Eduardo and Clements bring to the table.....

Eduardo Clements isnt fast but he breaks a lot of tackles thats why he doesnt avoid them..... and Dallas Crawford is a RB, very explosive, ****fy, good balance, and is tougher between the tackles then Duke Johnson.

.... but as i said before this whole idea of a #2 running back needs to be revisited b/c it doesnt matter who is the "back-up" to Duke Johnson if Duke is going to get all the carries anyway. The coaches are going to have to change up the plan of giving Duke Johnson the ball 20+ times a game or worrying about who the "#2" back is going to be wont matter.

Agree, Crawford looks to be Gregory Hines in Tap, and Eduardo looks as if the mob fitted him with cement shoes, as he is always falling forward as soon and the ball is snapped.

I have never agreed with one post as a much as I did this one... Nail hits head...

It is really hard for us to make any concrete observations about any of these running backs based on Savannah State. For instance, Crawford could not run that physically against a real defense. Edwards could not outrun a real defense down the sideline. I think both are very talented, but we still have no idea who our best backup running back is.

Spot on.

Agreed. But, I do know who our most talented backup running back is

Gus just lacks that tentativeness you see so often in young backs. He goes hard every play and hits whatever hole is or isn't there. I'm an early fan and see him as our 2nd best back within a few games.

I see Graig Cooper in Crawford when he runs, bit smaller I think, bit similar running style.

I want to see Gus the Bus do nothing but squats all off-season. Come in next year with the legs of MJD and the arms of Ray Rice.

Not knocking him either. He's big but I'd like to see him like that so he can start trucking fools.
