Greg Cote: “Canes Got a Raw Deal"

I'm a realist and not a homer that wears orange and green shades 24/7.

We deserved a chance had we not finished the season the way we did. It's a 12 team playoff, we had a meh schedule, Cam Ward at QB and we still have to debate whether we should be in.

No one to blame but ourselves.
Indiana schedule is trash Boise St. trash Any Big 12 team in the CFP trash. Tennessee got beat by Arkansas who got destroyed by Ole Miss who lost to UF who UM beat at home....see how this works you can make an argument for any team if you tried hard enough!!

I don’t think we necessarily deserve to be in. Quite frankly we don’t we ******* blew it. But I will argue that the criteria is ****ed and makes no sense other than blatant corruption and bias.

Bama’s final 3 games were Mercer, Oklahoma, and Auburn. So an FCS team, a 6-6 team, and 5-7 team. After their Mercer win they moved up 3 spots! What!?

The whole thing is screwed from the start because same committee picking who gets in is making the rankings during the year that always put lower tier SEC teams in the top 25 because “SEC schedule”. That way the higher up teams have more free wins against top 25 teams the committee can point to when it comes bowl game/playoff time. It’s awfully suspicious the argument is top 25 wins and then 3 of Miami’s wins finish the year ranked #27, #28, #33. Bama has 2 losses to teams below .500 as well.

Again, not here to argue us into the playoff. We had a clear path and ****ed it. But the more you look into it the more flabbergasted you get.

Yep. It's the reason they kept missouri in the rankings all year despite them being dog****. To make the teams that beat them (namely Bama) look better.
Mizzou is absurd. Lost by 34 points to then #15 Bama and dropped just 3 spots from #21 to #24 in the AP Poll. First CFP ranking was #24 the same week as the loss to Bama and then they moved up to #23 after beating OU at home. Lost to then #21 USCe and did not drop at all from 23. So Missouri is 3-2 in its last 5 and moved up from #21 to #19 in that time (also moving up 4 spots during a 2-1 stretch with its wins over Mississippi State and Arkansas). That's insane. Canes also went 3-2 during that period and dropped 8 spots. And really, if the committee were being logically consistent, UM would be #14 behind the comparable 3 loss SEC teams, but it knows it does not really matter what they do after #11.

Stop this. Not regardless of what happened at Syracuse. We all knew what it was. We knew what we had to do as Miami Hurricanes. If the opportunity arises to eff over Miami, that opportunity will be taken 99.9% of the time by our opponents. If Miami had handled business like they were supposed to, this isn't a conversation. The team failed because of poor leadership from Cristobal and Guidry. Dawson too by not pounding the ball when you have a three touchdown lead against a team that can't stop the run. We're out due to ineptitude. The committee's opinion should have been irrelevant.

Did anyone think that the new playoff system would be any more fair than the 4 team playoff? Politics mixed in with capitalism equals corruption. Today hearing a game broadcast it’s about the spread the over/under and which former schools the players attended. Other than the pageantry the students and fans college football is no longer enjoyable.

Lol..got CIS Noles in here celebrating that we aren't in and trumpeting we don't deserve it... classic.
We absolutely deserve it..it's a 12 team playoff ffs...but you have a group of politically motivated people deciding things vs divisions and records...as long as the CFP is calling the shots this will always be how this goes.
If you watched and listened they were always planning to take 3 loss SEC teams over any other teams..this year it happened to be us.
They'll do the same thing next year..wait til they expand the playoffs..you'll see 4 and maybe 5 loss SEC teams getting in.

totally agree whether you feel we are deserving or not. It sets a bad precedent and now SMU might get screwed if they don't beat Clemson. I heard the committee say that was in the realm of possibility even after they had said they would not penalize teams for losing in the conference championship game. Total BS

It's not about Bama sucking. Our players deserve to go, it's good for the program visibility and future recruiting, and is more money for the program. Bama should not get in on name and SEC affiliation
Nah, BS. That's an echo of the Noles BS from last year! If our D sucked, we don't deserve to be in. If George gets an unsportsmanlike call, if our D jumps offsides on the last play, if Mario kicks a field goal, we don't deserve to be in.

What a ridiculous comment. Bama got in by name alone. It's stupid to pretend otherwise. All of your "ifs" are true, but you then play the SEC bias game and don't apply them to Bama, who had far worse losses than we did, plus an extra loss. If Bama didn't lose to lowly Vandy, if Bama didn't get absolutely ***-kicked by a mediocre, .500 Oklahoma where they couldn't score more than 3 points and got blown out by 21 (meanwhile our 2 losses were by a combined 9).

Let the chips fall where they lay. FSU got exposed in their bowl game. Let's see if we do in ours.

Bowl game has nothing to do with playoffs. FSU had no QB so they weren't the same team that would go into the playoffs. We didn't lose Ward. Completely nonsense comparison.

We got screwed. Came as no surprise to anyone it was going to happen. Last year FSU got epically screwed. ACC did nothing to help. Should have triggered a change in ACC leadership. cannot have a conference commissioner who ****s his pants at the thought of pushing back on the P2. A couple of teams saw the writing on the wall and wanted out of the conference if it was going to allow itself to be cuckolded like that. UM was not one of those teams disgusted by ACC leadership - Rad was happy to stand in the back and watch the P2 gangbang the ACC.

So now we deal with the consequences of inaction. We definitely have grounds to complaint that we deserved the 11th spot over Bama, but we have no grounds to complain that the ACC isn’t respected. P2 and playoff committee showed what they thought of the ACC last year.

Regardless of what happened at Syracuse the Canes should never be behind THREE LOSS Alabama. Committee needs to reconsider and make things right.
I was sure when garbage *** Oklahoma destroyed them their season was over I guess that’s what 15 years of dominance gets you compared to what we were doing smh

Nevermind about other teams. We simply don't deserve it after losing 2 of our final 3. That's what the committee penalizeded us for. That and Guidry's pathetic defense.

I would say this is also why they are trying so hard to protect themselves with manipulating Bama in the playoffs.

I'd love to see ND destroy them, if that should be the matchup.
As much as I hate ND, I am with you on this. Alabama needs to be destroyed in the first round of they actually make it in

...and Bama deserves it even less. Most at-large teams have reasons they don't deserve it, but a different standard was applied to us by the committee compared to other teams
