Golden's brother deals with Sandy mess

Millions of people in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast have had to deal with the wind, rain and now damage dealt by Hurricane Sandy.

Miami coach Al Golden has kept a watchful eye on all the events. His parents still live in Matawan, N.J., and his brother, Shaun, is the elected sheriff there.

"They’re going a million miles an hour," Golden said earlier this week. "They’re expecting quite a bit. ... We’re praying for those people."

New Jersey was one of the areas hit hardest by the storm. The hurricane also forced Maryland and Virginia to alter their practice schedules because their respective campuses were closed Monday and Tuesday. Virginia is scheduled to practice Tuesday afternoon, allowing players a break from the normal routine.

"It’s not too bad," linebacker Steve Greer said. "I don’t think it messed things up too much. It’s always nice to get a little extra sleep so I’m sure guys didn’t mind that."
