-UM Admin advised Golden for media Blackout last week.

-Worried about focus last week. Behind the scenes it was tough and emotional. Upperclassman was tough and emotional.

-Blake James addressed the team @ 9:05 last Tues. before practice. The focus externally was on NCAA mess and FSU. Made it very challenging for him to get everyone focused.

-Wake is a good veteran team. Emotionally draining week. Kids believed and have a mindset to finish the game.

-Disappointed in the Defense giving up that explosive play after we took the lead in the 4th.

-Duke ran the ball as well as he ever has.

-Stephen is the leader and turned the page health wise last week.

-Coming from behind is not just "a mindset". It's technique, trusting your training, good conditioning, etc......hard to develop.

-A lot of things need fixed, however, we're in the mix....need to take the next step. This weekend is a great challenge.

-He doesn't talk point spread with the team. Believes in execution and buying into the process. Point spread is a reflection of FSU reloading and us building our program.

-FSU is an awesome complete team.

-Really happy with Morris performance. Didn't try to do too much.....best he's felt physically in a month.

-S. Coley is a beast and studies football. Very smart player. Needs to refine a couple routes but very happy with his progression.

-Scholarship losses will be a challenge but we'll be OK. Happy we took our medicine up front (penalties).

-Vets are going to have to step up this week.

Quick summary:

"Are you kidding me, Joe?"

Two wins last week, chance to move forward.
No media access last week came from Shalala, not his decision, but he agreed with it; wanted kids focused on WF
Tough, emotional week, upperclassmen were denied post-season games, underclassmen came despite the uncertainty...had to thank them all
Everyone knows what focus is for this week, but last week external focus was not on WF
Last drive...kids believe they will finish, disappointed in allowing WF to respond, Duke ran hard, finished runs, used stiff arm, team believes in Morris
Believes Morris has turned the corner
Final game winning drives take technique, desire to want the ball, trust...OL told coaches they wanted to run every play
Pays no attention to point spread, won't talk about it with kids, believes in execution and buying into the process
The point spread just shows that F$U has the ability to reload, and we haven't proven that we can move forward from the NCAA cloud
Feels good about team leadership and the staff...have to play better, we can play better, this is the type of situation you dream about
F$U is awesome team, very complete
Morris was very smart with the ball, WF a veteran, savvy, well-coached team...very pleased to come out with a win
Likes where Morris was in the game, he didn't try to do too much, most healthy he's been post-game in weeks, excited about where he is
Stacy Coley mature for his age, plays fast, still has to work on some of his routes and timing, nothing is too big for him
Re: scholly losses --- it'll be a challenge, but self-sanctions was a brilliant legal move that will allow us to move forward, will work around it
Re: F$U --- playing well, complete team, very deep, biggest team up front we've seen...will be a challenge in every phase
Leaders have to stay poised, step up to the challenge
The difference in games like this is the emotional and intelligence parts, will be physically ready, just have to be mentally ready
Thinks the NCAA cloud won't have much effect on the '14 class, because it's mostly done already, but sees things being easier for '15 class

The end

Edit: Mods, please merge this with BigSky's thread.

Hey, love this game and the set up heading to Tally. Have to say FSU is the best team seen in college game this season, if not several years (You all saw Clemson beatdown, right?). Jimbo should take his boys 90 miles east or whatever and play Sundays for the Jacksonville fans, so they can earn a real paycheck. Al should be thankful, very thankful just to have his team invited to play in Tallahassee and take the field against such greatness. ****, surprised FSU didn't book us as its homecoming game. We have absolutely no shot, none, zero, zilch. Everyone knows we're a weak-***, fraudulent No. 7 in the country. We're traveling with a gimpy quarterback, an FSU reject calling plays and a defensive coordinator that waits to halftime to make adjustments. The pundits, computers and polls hate us . . . even our own fans are unimpressed with perfection after seven games. They collectively cringe every time we luck out and grab victory from the jaws of defeat. They seem to like us less with every ugly win. And the wise guys in Vegas, if I'm reading right, opened with FSU a 21-point favorite.
In this age of zero tolerance, where football parents dutifully scream "bullying'' in the wake of Friday night routs, Donna Shalala would be negligent not to step in. Don't send our young men into harms way, Donna. Jessie (The Backup) Palmer, Coach Lou and every clown with a microphone or a laptop is telling the world we have no chance. Remember, FSU is the best-of-the-best, a well-oiled machine.
On the other hand, Coach Al's crew is just a bunch of lucky, hapless, pretenders. Save us, Lord.

I see what you did there...

Throw in the NCAA info and it was even more so.

Glad the NCAA behind us last week so it does not distract from FSU.

It is time for UM to destroy FSU's national title hopes again.

That WF game was the very definition of a trap game

This was the trap game of trap games. Emotional let down from UNC win, distracted by NCAA ruling, and looking ahead to Florida State. I don't think fans understand how hard it must have been to keep this team focused. I commend Al and the staff for this. You will see a very loose team against FSU and this will serve us very well. I am not ready to predict a win but we will have a chance. And as somebody has already stated, Al Golden's psychology degree is going to come in handy this week.

That WF game was the very definition of a trap game

So was NC State for FSU. No excuses. We got the win but next Saturday night we better come out sharp as all **** and play our best game of the year. I'm not driving up to watch our boys score style points or cover the spread. I'm there to watch us ruin FSU's season the way God intended the Canes to do.

That WF game was the very definition of a trap game

People don't want to give WF credit, but they are not a bad team. The reason we didn't dominate this game is because of the way their OL was positioned so wide. We would have crushed them if our DE wasn't lined up so far from the QB, eliminating our pressure. We had so many change to get them off of the field on 3rd down, but we couldn't get any pressure because of their OL alignment.
