Summary:

Al Golden Football Camps
- Biggest thing is most kids can still develop their talent, can pick up a few things that really help their game
- First and foremost about fundamentals but also good forum for talent evaluation
- Kids wear t-shirts everywhere (Blustein)
- Walk-ups are welcome
- Tempo gets to a lot of kids, run it like a college practice
- Try to leave impression on kids

Observations on recruiting
- Hasn’t gotten easier but have developed relationships, trust local coaches when they ask UM coaches to go look at a prospect
- More talent than UM can offer, which leads to some frustration in the community
- Especially at WR and CB, more talent than they can take, so judge on character, classroom work, etc…

On coach Coley as OC
- Golden based his decision on abilities as a coach, recruiting ability was a bonus
- Excited about what he has done with the offense but can’t say too much
- Doing different things on offense than past few years
- Energetic, passionate, bright and kids relate very well to him

On D-line
- Didn’t have CP last year, his return is huge
- Luther Robinson and Corey King are doing well
- Olsen Pierre has made the most strides (benches 225 over 30 times and weighs 305)
- Chick is now 275 and Hamilton is 285
- Have to do better with pass rush which include Des and LBs
- The biggest difference on D will be experience
- Played 14 or 15 freshmen last year who will be much better prepared physically and mentally

Coley has me worried more than the defense. The talent should be able to mask his inexperience somewhat still is an unknown.
DLINE finally has men lining up.. Experience plus the added size should equate to a big improvement.

Not sure you why you'd be worried about Coley, he's spent 5 years planning against ACC teams. Also, he may not have been calling plays, but its not like he took Saturdays off. He was in the booth and gave his input on every single play I am sure. If he didn't Im sure he had his opinions. Coley has me excited. He's a young dude so I am sure he's open to all the different offenses you are seeing pop up lately. You know he's going to bring some innovations. I would love to see us run some hybrid sets, kind of how New England and New Orleans do. With the amount of talent we have we can be lethal.
