Golden: No update on Rashawn Scott. "We're going to evaluate and do some testing today and tomorrow."

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 40m

Al Golden said some OLs "reverted back to old habits."

Tim Reynolds ‏@ByTimReynolds 40m

Golden on James Coley: "I thought he was smooth."

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 40m

Golden said OC James Coley had "great poise throughout. ... I thought he was smooth, I though the was ahead of it the whole time."

Al: Happy they played 27 guys on defense last night...all were expected to play except for Jamaal Carter and Jermaine Grace

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 38m

Golden: "The pass game looked like nothing we've seen in training camp. .. we need to take a deep breath there."

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 38m

To Al Golden — would you like to play UF annually? “Oh yea, I don’t think there’s any question.”

Tim Reynolds ‏@ByTimReynolds 37m

Golden says Week 1 games are "really hard" and he's right. Look around the nation on Week 1.

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 37m

Golden calls FAU “Rugged” and “Well-Coached” “They were exactly who we thought they were.”

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 36m

“I’m betting on Stephen Morris” — Al Golden. “He’s going to bounce back.”

Tim Reynolds ‏@ByTimReynolds 36m

Golden is not watching the TV broadcast of the Florida game.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 36m

Golden on offense: "We dropped some that could have got the thing going ... that keeps you off rhythm a little bit."

BrianTheBeastLondon ‏@MiamiRadioBeast 36m

Al: Not watching the Florida game...they are reviewing last night's game...had too many guys freelance last night..

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 30m

Golden on Stacy Coley’s two TD drops: We’re viewing it as an anomaly.

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 28m

.@dennisdoddcbs jumps in on the conference call, asks about NCAA and recruiting. “Dennis, you’re killing me.”

and @dennisdoddcbs asks about NCAA....."It's not going to creep in, the NCAA thing, I really don't."

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 27m

Golden says that “not being part” of 2015 recruiting because of looming NCAA stuff is a “terrible sanction.”

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 27m

Golden alludes to #Canes "not being part" of 2015 recruiting because of looming NCAA sanctions. Calls it a "terrible sanctions."

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 25m

What I think Golden was saying is that uncertainty over looming sanctions is causing UM to ease off on landing 2015 commitments.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 12m

Further clarification: Golden referencing "sanctions of uncertainty." As in, not knowing how many schol's UM may lose hurts 2015 + beyond.

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 11m

@SBNRecruiting @TheOneBarrelRum Just repeating what the man said. And they haven’t been able to “fully” participate in his tenure.

Yep we need to know the hit to plan properly. The very last comment suggests we already have self imposed some ships previously (or at least recruiting visits) which is good because it should only make the ultimate penalty lighter.

From your lips to mark Emmert's ears

Saturday’s Florida-Miami game will have an impact on recruiting, one way or another. The two programs are recruiting many of the same kids. Right or wrong, some players will see Miami’s performance against the Gators and decide whether the program truly is headed in the right direction under Golden.

With that in mind, Golden was asked by a national reporter on a Saturday conference call if recruits are hesitant to commit to his program with the NCAA’s case still unsettled.

“Well, it’s been difficult,” Golden said. “There’s kids from all over the country [from the] 2015 [recruiting class] that are committing, making decisions where to go. And we’re not really part of that. That’s a terrible sanction … That penalty is already factored in.”

According to 247Sports.com, Miami currently has one commitment from a 2015 player: Royal Palm Beach junior Charles Perry, a running back/linebacker.

Miami expected the NCAA to decide by early August what penalties the school should receive following the Nevin Shapiro investigation. At the Hurricanes’ Aug. 9 media day, Athletic Director Blake James said he would be disappointed if Miami did not receive word by the start of the season. With nothing settled heading into Florida week, Golden was asked if he was frustrated to see the NCAA rule quickly in other cases, including Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

“I have no idea about any of those situations or those processes, what the evidence was or what those young men were involved in. It would be unfair for me to comment on that,” Golden said. “They’re probably looking to move as swiftly as they can in everything they do. In fairness to the NCAA, this is a very complicated deal. I think maybe those were easier to sort out, I don’t know. We’re just trying to move forward now.”

One thing is for sure: reporters are becoming dumber by the second. Journalism is mostly dead.
