when UM was down 14-0 after two drives against BC in the opener, did anyone think to themselves,"Geez, Miami really is as bad as some say they might be?"

I remember Phil Steele( a guy I respect) saying UM would be 4-8 or something like that and being worried that this could be even worse than 1997.

Then Duke Johnson went all Duke Johnson and you thought to yourself,"OK, here is the future. It's gonna get better."

But I really think this staff did a pretty good job to get to 7-5 considering everything

This season, this is the first year I'll really expect anything in terms of a certain number of wins

I refuse to think that 7-5 is specifically a good job. I can live with it, however in my heart of hearts I feel like we underachieved in each of the past 2 seasons. I considered ourselves quite lucky to have won NC State and GT and even Duke to a certain extent.

I love Al and the vision and understand the setbacks which make meeting expectations difficult so I don't hold it against him. I call his first year year 0 because the way he inherited the roster and then the sanctions hit. Last year was year 1 for us and the draft ravaged the season. No way around that fact, thats a completely different team with Lamar, Streeter, Washington, Forston, Vernon. So it definately could have been worse.

Little stuff needs to improve. We aren't getting defensive calls in soon enough, guys look lost till the ball is snapped. Part of that is youth but part of that is coaching. Considering how vanilla and bad our defense was, not sure what there was so much to be confused about.

I expect 9 wins. Any less is a clear cut dissapointment in my eyes, any more is a really strong season, and 9 is about where we should be at.

7-5 isn't great. But this was the youngest team in the land. I think that has to be taken into consideration...

9 wins is the minimum, enough talent to expect that.

Was at the BC game and it didn't look good. Perryman INT was huge

Couldn't have less faith in the defense. The UVA and Duke games were unacceptable. And if duke goes down we are toast. 8-9 wins is what's realistic imo. 10 wins and we should be doing cartwheels.

Baby faced defense, on the road, I tried to tell myself it would be ugly early. You don't want to get too up or down right off the bat but **** you just had the feeling it was going to be a **** of a roller coaster season.

Still think that first down run by Duke was my favorite. I didn't think he had that in him yet.

J, that was the drive where UM was down 14-0. If Duke doesn't tough that one out, who knows where we go. Al Golden has said that was his favorite play of that game and one of his favorites of Johnson's frosh campaign, because of the toughness he showed

After Perryman's pick, you got the sense that they would win that one, BUT, yeah, you knew you had to hold on for an up-and-down season...
